Hello from glittering Las Vegas, NV...

Post by lv164fan » Sat Jun 11, 2016 4:17 pm

Hi, I'm Ken from las vegas. I decided to join after lurking around this wonderful site for quite some times. Let's see where to start. Oh I've been collecting model cars of various scale since the mid 1990's..and in no particular theme. Though I love road cars in general I also don't mind cars with beautiful racing decals here and there. I probably started like most people in their younger years with Hotwheels and affordable 1/18 exotics from the local hobby stores and worked my way up to mail-ordering that "special" model from oversea. Can't believe I still remember the word "mail order"... My first batch of quality 1/43 cars in those days came in the form of Best, TopModel, Brumm, Max, and MiniChamps. They were mostly Alfa Romeo, Ferraris, and old Mercedes from the 50's and 60's. Even though comparing them to today's Sparks, BBR, Neo, Looksmart and Redline( which I have 2) those cars look in some way lacking in detail and sophistication....but I love them very much the same, because I simply love cars. Today because of budget and space( 3 cabinets filled from top to bottom..haha) I'm limiting my purchases to mostly 1/64 and a few quality 1/43 such as Sparks Alfa Romeo 8c spider and Redline Ferrari 599 gtb. Ok that's about all I can come up for now. Hope to learn more from a very nice group of enthusiasts!!

Ken

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Hi Ken.....welcome.

Its always nice to have "lurkers" sign up as members. You'll find there is a lot more to the forum now you've signed up.

I'd start saving up for that 4th cabinet now. We'll have you buying more models in no time !

Hi all and thanks for your warm welcomes! Yes, Steve. I should have use lv143 as my user...but truth be told that was my old password from some forum years ago i don't think existed anymore and thought "hey, why not!" Beside I couldn't help but notice a lot of nice folks here collecting 1/64 and thought I join in. But i think my flames for 1/43rd are not quite out just yet...so I'll post on both side of the coin from time to time. Thanks again guys

Hi Ken, welcome into the madding crowd!

Collection wise you might be in healthy competition with a certain "Red Car" ..................sorry Redline fan. I will leave it to you to work out who.

Would be great to see what models Les Vegas provides.

Welcome aboard Ken! You started with the same brands that many of us did as well!

So you couldn't get '143' :P And here I was thinking that the '164' in your handle might have had something to do with a certain Alfa Romeo sedan from the 1990s, guess I wasn't even close

Welcome to the site Ken. I must admit to being a lurker myself on other sites - this is the only one I'm committed to though!
