Ghosthunter collects these...

Post by ghosthunter » Mon Jan 25, 2016 10:40 am

I was offered a Burago Camargue for a really good price of around £30, as opposed to one being for sale on ebay for about £90 and as I am not an ebayer myself, a friend did the deal for me and he showed a picture of the model while in his possession and he had placed several smaller Matchbox Silver Shadows around it and when I had the same model in my possession, I tried to recreate his picture and I think I succeeded, as shown below.

His original picture.

My version, only the big Camargue is the same model in both pictures.

Nice. I have the same Camague (though in silver) and I used to have the Matchbox Shadow in a pre-whizzwheels version. That didn't survive the Humbrol attack mayhem of 1975, though.

Nice! ;)

I have that Camargue too, although the gold-ish one! And, also have one of the Matchbox Silver Shadows!

Here is a tinplate Bentley 'Continental' Flying Spur in Highway Patrol trim.
YONEZAWA.JPG
The model was marketed by Yonezawa and is quite hard to find. There was an Ambulance and normal road car versions.

Here is a very rare metal kit from the early 1950's.
REPLICARS.JPG
To see these as kits is rare and expensive!

The model is based on the 1907 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost in c1/24th scale. Marketed as a 'REPLICARS' kit there were only Four models in the range and activity from the company lasted from the early 1950's to 1959.

The 'GRAPHIC DESIGNERS' name is connected to the above model and the tooling for the kits eventually ended up with Bob Wills with the intention of releasing them as part of his own range of soft metal kits, but after trial moulding the quality was seen as not good enough and the tools would require a lot of work to bring them upto the standards Bob wanted. Bob launched his new range of metal kits with a whole new set of tooling under the 'WILLS FINECAST' name.

Here is the 1998 Rolls-Royce Silver Sereph from 'FRANKLIN MINT'.

Beautiful model!
The very early kit is great too, I wonder how many survive.

Continental in Police livery and ambulance are enough to make one weep!.... :? I know they're toys in the truest sense of the word, but really....... :( Thank goodness they're rare. With luck most will have gone into the crusher.

Back on earth. It's about time someone made a nice 1:43 diecast metal Seraph.

It is indeed. I am surprised Minichamps have not done a Rolls-Royce version of their Arnarge, so until they do, we have to buy the resin 1/43rd Sereph from Shenzhen mainland China.

A plastic copy of the BURAGO Rolls-Royce Camargue. It also has an 'AM' radio installation with the TUNING and ON/OFF controls on the base just behind the front wheels.

Nice rarity. The Burago model was my introduction into large-scale models, it was my Sinterklaas gift in 1977 ('78?) and I've treasured it since.
