Ken's recent 1/18....and comparo!

Post by lv164fan » Thu Apr 06, 2017 10:03 pm

Hi all, I'd like to share my recent 1 18 purchase and hope that everyone can comment on what they think. First of all I'd like to say that 1/64 and 1/43 comprise most of my collection of about 250 cars or so....but just like alot of collector here I also have a handful of 1/18s. Yes including the famous UT Mclaren F1 LM in orange :D I have been drooling over several CMC models over the past years. I finally pulled the trigger on a beautiful Ferrari and therefore the reason for this comparison. All accuracy aside the CMC Ferrari California is beautiful! So here goes...

The Hot Wheels 250 GT was considered one of my hi-end 1/18 Ferrari until the CMC arrived( I don't own any BBR or MR.) I have several Autoarts and to me they are also pretty hi-end.

Unless with closer inspection the paint finish on both cars are pretty similar in quality, that is saying a lot about the Hot Wheels which is 1/3rd the cost of the CMC. And they both have the same weight feel to them...very solid and heavy, just like diecast model car should feel!

The interior is where the CMC shine and their small bit pieces of small parts are more realistic looking even though all plastic the same. And it is better textured.

.....my final thought during this comparison tells me I made the right decision in both purchases because one is very high quality in its price point and the other represents one of diecast cars finest!
