MODEL HUNTING ASSISTANCE

Post by sheepCrusher » Sat Apr 30, 2011 7:45 pm

I thought it would be good to have a thread listing cars that people are looking for, but haven't been able to find. If people know in the back of their minds what others are looking for and run across one in their searching they could pass on the information. It's always good to help out your fellow collectors. Be sure to post a pic with the make, model, year, race number if applicable, manufacturer, model number, and any other information you think would be helpful in finding the model. Not a place to post every car you are hunting, just ones you are having trouble finding or that elusive Holy Grail. With members all over the world this could be a great resource.
I'll start this off.

Lola T70 #6 Winner Daytona 1969 by Spark - S1437
FOUND thanks to ocool!

This Morgan is my true Holy Grail. Been trying to find this one since I started collecting 1/43 five years ago. I almost feel like if I find it I can/will stop collecting.

Brilliant idea, Scott. Might even be worth a sticky!

BTW, it's unclear which car you're referring to as your Holy Grail, the Lola or the Morgan?

Will have to think about which targets to post up here. Most everything I'm looking for I can find overseas or on eBay, just too expensively with shipping!

your pic link is busted, is it this Lola?

The other one is the Identical car in ARCO colours done for the Laguna Seca race. They were both commissions by Mazda if I remember ...
I was told they were less than 500 pcs.
Ièm looking for the ARCO model myself.
The Little Lola on the bottom is the BK Motorsports car circa 2007 (ish)
It came and went in a heartbeat as well. I think it might have been a commissioned model as well but not sure.
All I can say is good luck been looking forever myself....

Scott
the other one...

Help! I'm trying to find this Opel and not having any luck. Not sure why I like it either. It's pretty grandma looking. Something about it, though, just calls to me.

Very good idea Scott! And I too like the yellow Diplomat you've shown, but the ONE car I'd love to have (at a fair price, say under $30 USD) is the following:

1:43 IXO Peugeot 505 GTi Item # CLC166 Much appreciated for any help leading to one?

or this lot appear to have it

Andy to the rescue, again!

The second link is a bit less expensive, will consider it, thank you!

Of course, we know what's coming in 1:18 regarding the 505 8-)

Nice idea. Some of us have already benefited from forum mentions of online websites which have older out of production items in stock e.g. the South African outlet which had some three year old Spark models which had long since gone from retailers in Europe and elsewhere. I suspect that between four of us we quickly wiped out their obsolete stock of one particular model which we all wanted.....

These are 2 models that are the top 2 on my hit list but very rare to find.

1st is this BMW concept turbo made by schuco.

Image

2nd is this beautifull Opel Manta CC. I want this purely because i have myself a real Manta hatch in black. It is made by Neo and I have been told that it was made for manta club in Belgium ? Limited to 300 made. Amazing.

We do BB, and it should be with me next month - this month is Alpine time

Ian - i think we did. I recently had a little ordering session with them too. Going back for more soon

Andy - The Manta i know about but i've never seen one for sale. Nice that you have a 1/1 and especially the less common hatch. I have one of its competitors - the Scirocco - in a garage

Cheers

The M1 concept appears at Toyfairs occasionally. I have always resisted buying it and suspect that with frequent searching on ebay it probably appears there too. Price as ever can be a deterrent to purchase.

Since Sheepcrusher's great idea is finally starting to garner some traffic, I'll jump in with my top hunting target:

ImageImageImage

Bizarre BZ214, BZ215 & BZ216: 1984,'85 and/or '86 Safari Rally winning Toyota Celica TCT. Looking for any one of these, though I'd prefer the '84 car if I can find it. Douglas is looking for these too, if anyone has a good source. The Old Car Shop has the '84 & '85 listed (where we were going to order from) but I just contacted them and it turns out it's an obsolete listing.

I was going to say the same thing. Put an image in our minds. Won't remember letters and numbers.

Good luck with that. I've seen these around $200. I'd love one too. Our best bet is for Spark to do a general issuing of this. They have done this in the past I believe. I really want the Gitanes one. Hate how they make "special market" releases. Never a special USA market release.

Saw it on eBay last week in Grey. The seller has sold out now, but perhaps its worth asking if he can get more?
