Shizuoka Hobby Show 2015

Post by dbonser » Thu May 14, 2015 9:34 am

I haven't seen much yet but here is Ignition's link. More than a few things I haven't seen posted before (the 1:12 240 S30 for example).

Guess I wasn't looking hard enough earlier. Here's Boost Gear's report:
http://minicar-fs.jp/html/page156.html

AUTOart's KPGC10s have me very tempted.

Kyosho section seems to be a catch-all for multiple manufacturers.

Its very interesting to see Spark have produced a couple of Ferrari 250 LM's. I wonder how they got away with that given the Mattel / Bburago / Maisto licences ? I guess this must be part of the Looksmart partnership.

It's also interesting to see Ebbro already have the new Le Mans Nissan even though the race hasn't been run yet. I wonder if this will be an Ebbro exclusive, meaning Spark won't produce it ?

Nice link Douglas. Some great new models, like the Ebbro President. Also glad to see some decent Nissan 510's from Ignition. But I would really like them to make normal versions too, not only tuned versions...

Funny you should say that Tom, I was quoted approx US$ 70 each today by my usual supplier. OK, $70 each isn't cheap, but its nowhere near as much as I thought I was going to have to pay.

That's great, I was expecting the price to be well north of the "C" note as with most LS models.

You're getting a very good deal. Retail on these pre-order announcements is ¥12,000 or ~$100.

Thanks Douglas. Good to know I'm getting a sweet deal, though to be honest I don't find Japanese prices to be a good gauge of the market. I pay only US$ 51.25 for new Sparks, which is about ¥6,150. I don't see many Sparks from Japan at that price - most seem to be in the range of ¥6,700 - ¥7,400.

Pretty sure I can find some room in the cabinet :) Not sure why this has been overlooked for so long by the regular 1:18 makers.

They're actually Looksmart models:

Maybe Spark is producing them for Looksmart?

Thanks Douglas

I know these will be produced by Looksmart. I was just trying to use the analogy that I pay less than Japanese prices for my Spark models, and hence my prices for the Ferrari's are lower than Japanese prices for the Ferrari's. I just ordered two today.

My bad. I had somehow decided these were Spark releases since they were in the Spark section of the show report. I guess I was the only one confused.

FWIW, my experience with models has been the same - less than stated Japanese prices.

Where are you getting new Sparks for $51.25 as that is a very good price. It works out at £32.95 and that way below the price in the UK, in fact it's nearly half the price. At your prices I could really get back up to date with my DTM collection.
