Excellent group Jeff. The Bricklin is my favourite.

You can pick whatever number you want. It doesn't really matter as you get what you get but if you feel better, pick away

As Jeff says you can pick but it will make no difference.

The car number itself is your number and they start at 1 (Jeff's, as the first person to order a forum car back in the day) through to currently 50 (the 50th different forum member to order a car)
The plaque denoting which number in the years edition will generally match the car number if your number is within the number of models available (so Jeff gets car No.1 and plaque No.1) and if not i.e. car No.50 you get allocated the first free plaque number within the series

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

I'm a bit confused. The car comes with a base and to that base goes the plaque ("1 of 50"), right? So if 50 (?) forum cars were made, how would you get a plaque that is not something between 1 and 50? :?

When I asked about picking a number I thought it was inferred that I would only be able to choose among the numbers that weren't already taken. Or the car number will be the first free number?

Dealing with foreigners is always difficult

Just lay back and take it while thinking of England.

Despite my glib reply from last week, I wanted to explain the numbering further. I may get it wrong myself, if I do maybe Andy can straighten me out.

There are 20ish cars made per year. The plaque will always be #1 of 20 , #7 of 20 etc.
Then there will be the number of the car. For some, their car number and plaque number match. Those are the people that haave been buying them from the beginning.

The car number is as you say, the first free number. Once someone buys a car, the car number they get will always be their number. If they don't buy the next car and a new person does, the new person gets the next available number.
So someone like yourself coming in 7 years in, you will get a high car number but the plaque number will be the next available.

Hope this makes sense.

That is so cool, you must be very proud of it. Not just for the models, but for what they represent. ;)

Very much so. I have said this before but I am totally shocked how this forum/community came to be and how it exists to this day. Its not a given to get a forum lie this up and running and to get it to survive.
I just threw this idea at the wall and hoped that it would stick. Forum were falling out of favor because of facebook and some well established ones were failing. I did little to none of the trolling of other forums to spread the word, did exactly zero of massing around with keywords and google searches and made it a difficult forum to join. Yet somehow with the help and participation of some really good people, here we are. And on top of that we have a wonderful legacy of this group of cvars to represent the Forum. So yes, I am immensely proud and overwhelmed.
