I never knew they did a 4WD, let alone that it had also been modelled in 1:43.

Ian, Monteverdi actually did several SUVs. In addition to the Safari, a very similar and less sophisticated Sahara was made in greater numbers being closely based on the International Harvester Scout. Even more important, Peter Monteverdi made the first or at least first well designed 4 Door Range Rover. Land Rover was so impressed with his work they essentially copied it for their own version and Monteverdi received a design royalty for every 4 Door Range Rover built through 1995 - this one project along was said to have made Peter Monteverdi a wealthy man.

The Monteverdi SUV is the only car of the marque I've ever seen on the roads here.
