Two toned colour schemes

Post by Ozmac » Mon Jan 27, 2014 2:37 am

Having just bought a two-toned Austin Healey 3000, it occurred to me that this is a perfectly good themed photo idea. Now the rules are simple; we're talking "two toned" as any car with two colours in fairly major proportions. So no stripes or little blobs of extra colour - "two toned" means two colours greet the eye on equal terms. The era from the 30s through to the 60s really is the era of the two-toned car, but I'd love to see some exceptions to that rule.

I have a dozen or more in this vein, but I will leave the first contribution at this, just for starters.

I love two-tone cars! Sure wish automakers would consider doing it again? I think the last 'hurrah' for new tone-cars was on larger, luxury models in the late 1980s? Big Lincolns, Cadillacs, Oldsmobile etc in lovely silver/red, gold/green etc. Some people think this sort of thing is tacky, akin to vinyl roofs, but it can also be very elegant to my eyes 8-)

Anyway, I know have more than a single 1:43 in two-tone, but this is the only one I have my own pics of...

That's exactly what I'm talking about Dcast! They are all wonderful and I have the 2nd and 3rd cars you show. In fact, the first gen black/silver Cadillac Seville was the very first NEO that I ever bought!

I have always thought of you as an "owner of many two-toned cars" Jamie.

It's made by Matrix! It's resin and was released about 1 month ago...I bought it on the day it became available in the US, at least at my retailer. It's a wonderful model, you won't regret it! It you want to see more pics, just look at my '14 buys thread...it's the only model I've shown so far, even though I've bought another nine since then  BB

It's made by Eligor, Julio.

And Johan said

This thread proves that RT and some others could also be "owners of many two-toned cars" too. Nice to not be alone!

And Claudiu, I love your BMW 507. What a desirable two-toned model car!

Unusual color combination on the Cresta Friary. (Unusual name, too.)

Friary of Basingstoke was the name of the specialist converter who turned a saloon into an estate.
