Friary of Basingstoke was the name of the specialist converter who turned a saloon into an estate.

Thanks for the information, David! :)

Mystery solved then. I always wondered how they came to name it that.

We shouldn't forget the '50s cars from the U.S.

Wonderful thread, great pics, and nice job by the model manufacturers because getting that separation line between the colors
is difficult to do, for me anyway.

It's a Dusey, and my favorite - the French Speedster.

1956. Buby Collectors Classics. Note a young Ronald Reagan advertising Chesterfield cigarettes on the poster.

I think Steve's red and white model is a 1955 DeSoto Fireflite (a Firedome version?).

I wonder if this one is considered 2 tone.

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that holstein cow patterns are very trendy here now. Our Miata club even had an event with a cow theme (in Wisconsin  ).

Image

Actually, there are several 1:1 cars painted (or wrapped) in this pattern including a 2CV, Caterham Super 7, Smart Car, Peugeot, Mazda, Honda and others:
