Thanks for sharing this fantastic story, Paul. Other than the fabulous diorama, the pictures look great too, congratulations for the beautiful work.

That picture is indeed historical (and also new to me), many people there later became part of world's motorsport legacy: Mike Costain, Colin Chapman and Graham Hill. From a time when you could build a car in a garage with talented people and lots of effort and later come back with a trophy and money in your pockets. Pure nostalgia!

The latest Lotus addition to the diorama is stunning Paul, and you've replicated this scene really well. However its your background story that really brings it to life.

However, for added realism I think you should add the guy wearing the purple-pink jacket :

Your work and research is outstanding as usual Paul.

I'm now off to Google to search "superlatives" as I am fast running out of them for this thread. :D

LE MANS 1957 – Members of the Ecurie Ecosse Team

So in closing and with a little artistic licence I have produced this colour photograph. We have Wilkie ready to refuel the winning Jaguar, with perhaps Stan overlooking proceedings at the side of the car whilst Ron is moving a spare wheel back to the pit wall. The gentleman in the Great Coat standing on the pit counter is of course David Murray.

And the diorama is all the better for the addition of a couple of Ferraris Paul :D

But seriously, nicely done by both Santa and yourself - that is an exceptional piece of work.

That's a great piece of detective work by your Santa, Paul. It demonstrates a lot of research and a thorough understanding of the subject. But kudos to you too for providing the opportunity with your diorama.

I really am enjoying it A LOT!

It's a blessing to be able to see ultra cool dioramas like this. Collecting a whole Le Mans grid is a difficult task, but to have them "alive" in a diorama like this is another level.

The removable engine cover on the #28 adds a special flavor to it.

Outstanding work, Paul!

Don't disagree with you Martin. I have been searching for these two on and off for far too long. Just shows the caliber of people we have on this forum. :D #28 car is the more difficult of the two to find, so hats off!

I quite agree Ian. I couldn't believe it when I opened the box on Christmas morning. My Santa has dug deep in tracking them down.

Bruno, it is very apt for you to have the last words on this post. This diorama is now complete thanks to some excellent detective work by a certain Santa Claus who knows his stuff when it comes to sports car racing!! ;)
