I have ALWAYS wanted to do something like this! :) But I don't have the space around my house to do a really good one.

Actually, I don't the the space either. My dioramas are usually one-night-stands on the dinning room table. Of course storing all the props for the dioramas does take space...

Good to know. So, on a related note, where do you buy buildings in that scale, or did you build them yourself?

Great "action" shots but looking at the 20M Turnier, Neo did a fantastic job on it. Might have to add it to the 'list'.

Joe, most of these buildings are O scale (1:48) for model railroad layouts. Mostly I buy them on e-bay but also from actual brick and mortar hobby stores and model train shows. Some are kits and some come already assembled.

Wow, your passion for your theme is impressive, especially since your work is transitory! The variety of scenes and landscapes is also impressive. ;)

Keep 'em coming. :)

In my case it would be permanent, both because I'd love to look at the diorama and because I'd be too lazy to put everything away.

I've thought about this. In some ways I envy people who have permanent dioramas, to which they can keep adding more detail to over time. But on the flip side, because I have to build the scenes from pieces every time, they always turn out different and after awhile I've come to appreciate that.

This diorama was done in partnership with nine year old daughter and is inspired by scenes from the 1975 children's book "Tin Lizze" by Peter Spier.
