Spark Container Boxes

Post by David MG » Fri Mar 31, 2017 5:47 am

Hi, has anyone worked out how to get the model out of a Spark replica container box without wrecking it?
This is the one I mean...........

You will see the clip which holds the base in position but short of hitting it with a chisel and hammer I can't remove the model.
Cheers,
David

Won't the clip on the edge go down if you press on it?

No, asyou can see from pic. It is quite thick and doesn't respond to finger pressure. Have lso tried raising the base above it. No dice.

Crap. I can't fathom they would make a box/display where it was not intended to remove the model from.

When you see one of these models on ebay advertised as "Brand new , never been out of the box"....now you now why

Looking at your pics David , that tab on the base has to shove down in order to unclip the model from the case . Try using a flat blade screwdriver to push the tab down in the centre.

Have you tried emailing Spark ?

It definitely comes out of the container :

I have succeeded.....................

Technique is to press the tab down hard with your thumb, then from underneath the box slip in a thin but strong
blade, flatten against the bottom of the container to keep tab open, you then put box upright and shake until the model base is over the tab and then pull.

And you thought ixo screws were hard!
Recently came across Atlas PWs that had 'rivet head' screws.

Success! And it won't require a new set of drivers .

Not sure I'd want to be doing that with a rare and fragile model. I wonder how many will get dropped on the floor in the process of being removed from the containers.

Why are they selling models in those boxes anyway? Surely it's an added expense that we don't need???

I guess that kind of case is aimed at the casual collector/buyer, who usually doesn't have a dedicated display shelf for 1:43s. And being honest, it doesn't look bad, but I'm not sure you need a second case if yu already have the acrylic box.

I`m sure they are a budget line from Spark as they are cheaper than regular Sparks .

A good looking model, though.
