Nissan Skyline GT-R 1990 JTC - HPI 8023 vs 8085 Comparison

Post by dbonser » Sat Nov 26, 2016 8:49 pm

HPI released 2 models of the 1990 JTC Nissan Skyline GT-R:
8023 (1990 JTC Debut Win)
8085 (1990 JTC)

I could never find enough pictures to be able to tell what is actually different between the 2 models. Since pontaracing's prices were so low I didn't mind getting both. Now that I've taken photos of both models here's the breakdown on the differences with 8023 on the left & 8085 on the right (click images for larger versions).

8023 - larger Bridgestone logo
8085 - smaller Bridgestone logo

8023 - gold wheels
8085 - white wheels

8023 - BE-X logo
8080 - no BE-X logo

8023 - number 12 placard at front of roof
8085 - number 12 placard at rear of roof

Image

8023 - no IMPUL logo
8085 - IMPUL logo

8023 - BE-X logo, different electrical cut-off
8085 - no BE-X logo, different electrical cut-off

Interesting comparison Douglas, the Calsonic is for me the most iconic livery on the R32s - love it!

Do you have a favourite Douglas ? I prefer the white wheel version.

Same as you - the white wheel version just looks better to me.

Interesting to see the subtle differences between the two cars. Shame that HPI is no longer making 1/43s, their detail was quite good.
