Post by LUW » Sat Apr 22, 2017 8:32 pm

As I think it's been obvious, I'm in a race transporter phase. So I thought it would be nice to have a database of what REAL (not fantasy) race transporters are available in 1:43. I agree, great subject and fantastic amount of knowledge here.
However fantastic it might look, I'd feel forever cheated if I bought a fantasy transporter...

Cabras, Daytona Coupes and GT40 will all work on the Alan Mann Transporter.

Is this real or fantasy?

Yes, but only specific cars on specific transporters.

If you ignore the modern tandem trailer, it's real (though technically its not a transporter) :

Brand: Premium Classixxs (12501)
Team/Factory: Dieter Bohnhorst / Porsche
Transporter: Mercedes Benz LP 608
Year(s): 1973

Smashing, even better! Image

Interesting that all collectors that I know of really collect cars and the transporters are just accessories, but not the other way around. Still, a fantastic subtheme, and one I will definitively get into in the future. One of the great things of 1:43: you can collect trucks without needing to build another room in your house :D.

PS: Maybe this deserves to be a sticky thread?

I would continue to call it a transporter, Ian. It's not a car transporter, but it still a transporter (for parts maybe?)

I don't think it's a transporter, but a support vehicle. Maybe we could expand this thread to encompass support vehicles too? Or maybe create a second one? Looking at it now I realize the thread will get much bigger then I imagined in the first place, so maybe it would be better for a secnd thread just to keep things more organized.

You're right on that. Isn't that the main reason, to make a nice presentation of the cars and transport/support vehicles?
I was just think in terms of making a more easy to access listing.

Have we determined if the Autocult Lotus Thames van is genuine ? I though it was a copy of a modern reproduction (which is why you can't actually fit a Lotus on the back of it).

I think weather its pulling a trailer or hauling parts or machinery to the track, they are all part of the racing circus.

Ian, That Cunningham Fageol is really something!
