Hi from Downunder

Post by Gilles27 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 4:59 am

Hi all, Jager gave me the link to your website, looks like a good bunch of fellow enthusiasts/addicts.

As my name indicates I'm a collector of things to do with Gilles Villeneuve and Jacques Jnr as well as Aussies overseas, Porsche 956/962s, Peter Brock (Australian motorsport legend that died in 2006) and the problem area of "anything else that catches my eye". I mainly collect racing cars in 1:43 & 1:18 but also have some road cars in both scales and a few 1:8, 1:12 and 1:64.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Looking forward to the collection. Plenty of 'anything else' collectors here and this forum will expand that section very quickly

Cheers

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Welcome aboard.
Let me get this straight, you are an Aussie who collects a Canadian who lived in Monaco......
Makes as much sense as any of the rest of us. :?
Now show us some pictures! :D

Start with the 1/8 scale. I've never seen a model that big.

Thanks guys, my collecting was under control until I met Jager at a Team Skea "Going Back To Le Mans" night (the team principal later went to prison), I think my collecting has gone from 300 cars to nearly a 1000 in about 7 years. However my mate Rob has a more serious problem, 12,500 and counting.

G'day Gilles,

Lived in Sydney (Manly) for quite a few years...attended Bathurst and Adelaide / Melbourne for the F1 many times...

For starters can you post some of yr Brocky cars - that would be great (great tragedy when he had his accident)

And get yr mate John on the forum with pics - 12500 cars jeeez

Kinda know where you're coming from, as I'm new and fussy about photo-taking... Plus I'm touching up a couple due to shoddy craftsmanship... Ahem Minichamps ahem...

Have somehow missed this thread at the time but better late than never, welcome to the forum and as you were away for a while, welcome back :)
Interesting theme and especially those big scale models are ones I haven't seen too often.

I just spotted this thread. Welcome, welcome! I, too, have a loose theme of "anything that catches my eye," so I'll be looking forward to your pictures and comments.

Hi there!!
"I have to admit I dont understand 1:43. 1:12 and larger I get, but most 1:43 I have seen (MOST) dont look like real cars. They are usually off in some way."
