hello from california usa

Post by 65slotcar » Wed Jan 09, 2013 8:56 pm

hello group, bill from pacifica california. i'm 49 and have been into diecast cars and car models for 45 years. started in the 60's with
hotwheels. (wish i still had them but they got thrashed in the backyard) really started collecting about 1999 with 1/18 exoto cars and
started collecting 1/43 a couple of years ago. with so many great 1/43 coming out, i rarely buy 1/18 scale cars. have been checking the
forum for a week or so and there is a lot of great information and reviews to support my addiction, i mean hobby........did i say
addiction. car count 4- 1/12 gmp about 20 - 1/18 and about 50 - 1/43 cars. mostly into 60's race cars. my screen name
refers to my 1/1 scale 65 mustang fastback set -up for road racing with the nor-cal shelby club. will post some pics later
of some of the scale cars. hope i can contribute to the forum with something useful.

Good Morning!
Nice to see you.

Quite new here myself, but have been enjoying my time greatly. You will love this place.

I hope you have some old open-wheelers, I love seeing that bare naked ruber...

Welcome to the forum Bill
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

I am very happy to have a new west coaster into 1/43. My collection tends to American street rods, vintage, 50's and 60's sedans & muscle cars. However, you will find some treasures shown by the other members that are almost irresistable when it comes to neat "Dinky" toys. I never would have known there was such thing as a 440 mopar powered Swiss car called a Montiverde if not for these guys. So, of course, I had to have the model.

thanks for all the welcomes. i will post some pics in the next couple days. i'm working on getting a display case for my 1/43. most
cars you have seen before. but i do have some interesting stuff also. i build 1/24 scale models also and built a 1994 nascar
f150 truck from scratch, kinda ......took a stock ford f150 model shaved the door handles and mouldings and fabricated a chassis from a
nascar t-bird model. also have a 1/18 scale car #9 chaparral 2d from exoto. 1 of 6 made. i'm sure most of you have not seen
that yet. here is a few pics of some of my modeling work. a slightly modified 1/24 scale 427 cobra by monogram

thanks guys, mods were the tires and wheels- nascar tires that were sanded to make look scuffed- wheels were metal from some off
brand gt 40 kit, metal gas cap from a chaparral model, aluminum tubing used to make roll bar and side pipes.
