Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
I was actually thinking of the ones that don't even visit anymore. Life interrupts I guess.
We do have a very large number of regular readers who don't ever register.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
I added a few updates to the map over the weekend :
- Builthatch (Jared) : NJ, USA
- Ginny (Guido) : Varese, Italy
- Collectionar (Florian) : Oradea, Romania
- Cosminos3000 (Christian) : Timisoara, Romania
It was also time to say goodbye to a few members who haven't logged in here in the last couple of years.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
It's been 9 months since I updated the map, so thought I'd give this thread a bump as we've had a lot of new members join recently.
Over the weekend the following were added :
Serafa (Bruno) - Brazil
LM24HRS (Paul) - UK
Ghosthunter (Kevin) - UK
Numeiro (Nuno) - Portugal

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
Thank you Ian for adding me to this feature. It is interesting to see where forum members are based. Quite surprised to see so many in the UK and I hope that members find looking around the UK countryside and it's landmarks of interest.
We do have some famous places of interest such as our Grand Prix circuits and the World's first purpose built race track (whats left of it!) at Brooklands in Surrey.
We also had many car makers in the UK and its great fun finding their factories or remains of their factories around our little Island.
Using Google Earth is great fun anyway, but with an Automobile theme in your mind is even better, have fun Guys.

Thanks for adding me, Ian!
Some interesting facts while I was walking through this functionality:
- I'm the only representative from South America;
- We do have many folks in the UK, as expected;
- We have very few people from Germany, that´s unexpected;
- We are a global community, with people from all continents, meaning that this hobby is not just a local passion.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
It's been a while since the map was updated and as I had to change my own location from Dubai back to Perth, I added a few more forum members to the map as well (some of whom still need their locations fine tuned).
Caravan (Sergei) from Canada
Cruisin101 from the USA
Ecclesley (Gerrit) from the Netherlands
Gilma (Gil) from Israel
LUW (Luciano) from Brazil
The Malting (Chris) from the UK
Makalu (Alex) from the UK
Odysseios (Bruno) from Italy
Protzenegger (Alex) from the US
Here's the link to the map again so you don't have to go back to Page 1 to find it.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
But if you measured members per million inhabitants, I'm thinking the Kiwi's would win (probably closely followed by the Romanians, then the Dutch).

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
The distribution is not fair indeed. There are 2 members in Brazil (me and Luciano) and just one in the rest of the Spanish speaking Latin America (Julio). Well, that's what happens when you have a small sample.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
Bruno, I wouldn't say it's a small sample, but it is what it is. At least here in Brazil VERY few collectors participate in online forums, and if these discussions are in another language, you will basically get that kind of demographics.

You know why Italians speak with their hands? Because they have to work a lot on their engines.

Re: Scale 143 Global Membership
I'm probably the kiwi who pops in here most.
Kev is a self confessed lurker (in more ways then one let me tell you..creeepy) and Lee has seemingly dropped right off the radar..Can't remember the last time the Morrisville kiwi jumped in here...
Mind you with my vastly reduced income I've bought 3 cars in the last 3 months ..and they are 1/24 even
Life sure does get in the way at times...

Life does get in the way. Hopefully S143 can be the one constant that is always there when needed.

Well, I'm very close - only 1 per 8 million or so......Jager wrote:But if you measured members per million inhabitants, I'm thinking the Kiwi's would win (probably closely followed by the Romanians, then the Dutch).
Shame 1/43 scale is not as popular in my country, and most of the collectors prefer Facebook
