Hi From the UK

Post by sam_mid88 » Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:10 am

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would introduce myself as a new member to the site and lover of all 1/43 cars! Started collecting again and love Minichamps, Ixo, Corgi Vanguards and I am looking at starting a road cars collection over different era's (I imagine this will take ages!) I will put some pics up of the 5-6 I have started my collection with soon. If anyone can recommend any reliable and well priced 1/43 Diecast websites for the UK it would be massively appreciated! Here's to my new collection!

Thanks

Sam

Welcome to the forum Sam. We'll soon have you skint and impoverished.
I get the majority of my cars from eBay. Trick is only buy from sellers who have a 100% status or those that are known.
Depending on what you want to collect, troll through various threads on this forum and pick up on what you like, then feed it into the Bay search.
Good bargains are to be had from HK & China but as a beginner you need to be wary. Some models are 'back door' and seconds.
In the UK try this selller. Picked a nice little NEW Elan coupe for £14.99 delivered.

Thanks David, I've started off the collection this week and realised it was rather random so think im going to tailor it going forward to road cars. Love the minichamps collections think they looks great, but looking through some of the pics on here there are some amazing collections! I will check out the ebay link now and let you know if I get anything! In the meantime, here is the start of my collection.

Welcome to the forum Sam

Off to a healthy start i see.

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Diecast metal is a good place to start. Welcome to the world's best forum and tune in to a wide range of 43 scale variety.

Hi there, Sam!!

Hi and welcome. Your theme sounds interesting as I'm road car collector as well and even the time period is about the same, from the 70's to present day :) Nice start for your collection.

I suggest 1970's JDM is a great place to start specific theme #1 8-)

Welcome to the forum Sam. Themes are a good way of providing some boundaries, but don't be so caught up with them that you buy cars that fit whilst missing the ones that you really like. There is definitely a balance to be found in my opinion.

I like that BSM Astra, something nice about it I can't put my finger on. Looks like the start of a good collection :)

Welcome Sam,

I'm really a 1:18 collector but have also been drawn to 1:43 partly because of the models Corgi Vanguards brought out from the 70's, 80's and 90's........they represent good value for money in my eyes.

But you'll find a wealth of different interests here, and a bunch of really friendly and helpful people.

I am quite taken with your blue wagon, may have to hunt one of these down.

Thanks, it took me a while to find, but i got it from a shop in London. I've seen a few on eBay but they're quite expensive. The detail on it is great though and highly recommended!

Great model, probably the one which came with Gran Turismo 5 luxury box? Nice diorama also :)
