Hello - New Collector (Touring Cars)

Post by JR-Racing » Mon Apr 07, 2014 11:49 am

Good Afternoon,

My names James, huge touring car fan ever since I was a young lad when we used to frequently visit the BTCC races in the nineties Super Touring era.

I started collecting Super Touring models around summer 2013 and have now become a bit hooked, frequently searching for another bargain to add to my collection.

Some of the collections on this site are awesome and really nice to see, my collection is still relatively small however it will grow. My particular favorites are the 1:43 BMW dealer models and Volvos; having met greats like Jo Winkelhock and Rickard Rydell many times.

Looking forward to talking to some like minded people in the touring car section.

James

Welcome to S143, you'll find more collectors of touring car models here. I have a few myself, but they're mainly Audis (V8 and A4).

Thanks for the welcome; I have taken a few very poor (camera phone) photos this evening, but can't upload them as yet, hopefully I will work out how to later on.

I promise to take some better photos next time when I can dig my proper camera out. My touring car collection so far, which I started properly last summer. I hope this is an acceptable way to show the pictures. I love collecting not only the cars from the BTCC but around the globe such as the STW German series and Australian Touring Car Championship.

I hope to ad a few more in the up and coming months despite trying to save for a new house. :?

Welcome to the forum James

I've edited the 1st pic to use the img link from pb so that the pics show on the forum. I'll let you change the other links to get some practice. Just edit the post and you'll see what i've done

You've probably noticed we have a small but dedicated Touring car membership plus many other have a passing interest as a minimum.

Nice selection of BM Dealer editions
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Hello James,

I was also a big fan of the super touring era, though I've no models myself (just DTM as far as touring cars go), I keep being tempted by the HPI Alfas though, and would love the 850 estate too.

Hi Ryan,

Can't recommend the HPI models highly enough out of all the others they are some of the highest quality and look fantastic, ironically these were the models which pretty much started the collection. If you get a chance to snap some up - I'd say go for it.

I love some of the DTM cars so will look forward to seeing some on the forum.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

James

Hi James. Welcome to the forum. Although my collection is ore focused elsewhere, I like my touring cars and have a select few from DTM and WTCC.

Whereabouts in Hampshire are you? This part of the country is pretty well represented on the forum :)

I live in a small village called Droxford, which if you have never heard of it is roughly between Fareham and Alton. What about you?

I would like to collect some WTCC cars at some point but my focus is mainly on the super tourers at the moment :)

Hi James are welcome to the forum. I think you'll find you started exactly the same way as I did and I love touring cars and try to keep up with all the main series apart from the WTCC as it has to be the worst run series around, mainly due to the FIA's inability to run it correctly.

Yep, I know it. I am in Havant. I would pass by your way if I'm taking the country route to Winchester.

My other half got me a nice display cabinet to display some of the models in yesterday - so am really pleased with it.

I'll try and get a photo of it.

Also made a new 1:18 purchase yesterday to pop in it - a 1997 STW Abt Audi in the famous flourescent yellow livery - hopefully it will go well with my 1:18 Rickard Rydell Autoart Volvo 850.

I get the train to work from Havant most days so am very familiar with that neck of the woods!

We've probably met already without even knowing it! I work in Chichester so am often in the area.

It would be a bit strange if you've sat next to each other on the train and you then meet each other on here.
