Hello

Post by Wayne Moyer » Tue Apr 15, 2014 8:11 am

Hi Everyone

Just found this group and have joined-- guess that means I'm pretty slow but I'll blame that on my age.
I began collecting 1/43 scale diecast models in 1966 and built my first white-metal 1/43 scale model (John Day's 300SLR) in 1973. Wrote a story about that for the old Challenge Publications "Scale Modeler" and have been writing about 1/43 models continuously ever since. Collection currently exceeds 3500 models and needs to be thinned so you'll see some on the auction site when I figure that out.

I won't be on here every day but I'll check as often as I can and would be happy to TRY to answer any questions and participate in the group as much as possible.

Thanks for having me

Wayne E. Moyer

Welcome to S143, Wayne! I've been collecting in earnest since the mid-'80s, and I thought that was quite a while ago but you started in the year I was born...
Be interested to see your huge collection and to read your stories of the early days, a lot has changed since then.

You started collecting just three years after I started work and sold my childhood collection of Dinky and Corgi Toys in 1963. That was on the advice of my mother and in hindsight a shortsighted view. It took me anther twenty years to start all over again but with Solido, Politoys, Mebetoys, Mercury, GAMA. Now I am at around 1,200 models. Welcome to our forum. I too shall look forward to seeing just what you have accumulated over the years.

Welcome Wayne. I can only echo the comments of others and look forward to seeing and hearing more of your collection - I guess with 3,500 models you have a little bit of everything.
