Newbie from the UK

Post by steering wheel » Fri Aug 29, 2014 2:43 pm

Hi all,

I've got to admit, I'm a little out of my depth with 1/43 :D

I have my own 1/18 scale collection have been asked to build a collection of somebody's car history. Naturally I decided on the smaller scale due to a much larger selection, space constraints and cheaper offerings (though we'll see about that last one!).

Whilst I know what and where to look for with 1/18, I've no idea about 1/43, and there doesn't seem to be a registry like scale18.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, as will any pointers in the right direction.

Cheers folks!

Welcome aboard! ;)

I'm sure that you'll find plenty of information about 1:43s in here.

Welcome to the world's best diecast forum for 1:43 collectors. Many of us have been 1:18 collectors in the past and now downsized successfully.

Welcome to S143 and I hope you will find the help you need with that car history collection. There is also a 1:18 section here if you want to share your current collection. :)

Welcome to the group.
As has been suggested, why not share your 1:18's with us. No scale snobbery here.

I'll bet if you post a list of the cars you are looking for, someone here will know the answer as to if they are made or not.

Welcome to the forum. While there is no true 1:43 equivalent of scale18's big list, camodel.com is a good source. Check the encyclopedia checkbox when searching and you'll get a pretty good start on what you're looking for.

A slightly belated welcome here, but good to have you on board.

A resource you might find helpful is the "Diecast Database' website. You may know this from your 1:18 collecting, but its a great way to see what models are available of the cars your looking for.

One of theissuesyou'llhave in 1:43 is there could easily be 2 - 3 different manufacturers of each car you want. Why not post a list of the models you want to acquire and we'll give you our views of the options available.
