Post by CortinaGXL » Sat Sep 13, 2014 11:41 am

Hi all I'm Gary from Cornwall in the UK, glad to be part of the forum, my main interest in 1/43 scale are the Vanguards range of models I have well over 130 of these and have been collecting them for about 18 years .
I also collect Oxford Diecast models in 1/76 and I build model car kits in 1/25 scale
Looking forward to joining in on discussions etc

Welcome Gary, I also build model cars but mainly in 1/32 - I have done a few cars and trucks in 1/24-1/25 though

Welcome to the forum Gary

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Welcome to the forum Gary. Plenty of UK members , but I don't think the West Country has been represented until now - certainly not as far down as Cornwall.

Greetings! I've always liked the style of the Vanguards line, but I've yet to get any, what are your thoughts on them?

Welcome Gary. Look forward to seeing someof your collection - you must have picked upsome interesting models over the last 18years. I hadn't realised Vanguards had been around that long.

Thankyou for all the kind comments everyone, ok too answer a couple of questions.

Significance of my username?..... Just happens to be my favourite car, Im a big fan of 1960/70s Fords and in the Vanguards range the Cortina Mk3 casting is one of my favoutites, I have all but one of every one released.

Who let the Status Quo fan in ?......guilty as charged guvnor

And about my collection...briefly, I started collecting the Vanguards range when they first came out which I think was around 1995/6 the first model I had was the blue Ford anglia 105e, over the years I have bought and sold so many Ive lost count, at one point I had over 220 but thinned the collection right down a few years back.
These day's its mainly Fords I buy, at £22+ a pop I can't afford as many as Id like to buy, saying that Ive bought 5 this past week !....Ooops

I hadn't forgotten you Steve, hence the second part of my comment. I ruled you out partly based on my interpretation of the phrase (I mainly associate it with Devon and Cornwall), and partly due to my ignorance of the exact location of Weston Super Mare! You are actually a bit further west than I thought.
