Another newbie

Post by Steve941 » Fri Nov 07, 2014 4:12 pm

Hello All, My name is Steve and most of my model building has been 1/24, but I've been jealous of the variety and quality of 1/43 kits. My favorites are sports cars and prototypes from the 1950s and 1960s (highly scarce in the 1/24 world of affordable kits!). I enjoy F1 and Indycar, but don't follow the current snoozefest that is F1. Maybe Bernie E. should move on... 'Started attending sports car races in May of 1963 as a teen at the venerable Marlboro Motor Raceway in Maryland. Was P.R./Marketing Director at Summit Point Raceway from 1985 through most of 1989. Road-raced motorcycles there in 1973 AAMRR season and 1975 WERA season. Former SCCA Tech Inspector and Pit Marshal. Two years ago I resigned as the Historian for the Washington, DC Region, SCCA after five years. I might just find that 1/43 is the way to go for me as shelf space and subject matter are running low. I'm a former college adjunct instructor and am now retired.

Hi Steve, nice to have you here. Your knowledge base sounds as though it is very interesting, at least to me.
You are correct in assuming that 1:43 is the scale of choice for your interests. Plenty around (but always room for more.)

Here are a few you might like.

Welcome to the forum Steve
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Hi Steve from another Steve :D Welcome to the forum and after reading your introduction I suspect you have a lot of great stories to tell. So don't be shy as I'm sure I'm not the only person on here that'd love to hear them.

Hi Steve,
Steve Williams here and so glad you looked up the site and signed up.
Lots of racing interest here and I am sure you will enjoy S143. Jeff sure posted a nice selection of interesting 1/43ed scale examples for you - WOW.
Not sure if you have explored all the various categories yet but there is one dedicated to 1/24th scale.
Since you are a 1/24th model builder I thought you might like to see couple of my builds as an introduction to the 1/24th scale section by clicking on this link:

Happy exploring, welcome aboard, and enjoy the fun. :D
Cheers and Happy Collecting,
Steve

Hi Steve and welcome abroad...:)
"I have to admit I dont understand 1:43. 1:12 and larger I get, but most 1:43 I have seen (MOST) dont look like real cars. They are usually off in some way."
