Awesome Aircraft Kit Alert

I have a friend who recently told me, "now don't hate me, but just check out these kits, play around on their website awhile, let me know what you think."

Well I did.
Was not planning on building WWI airplanes.
Was certainly not planning on building anything in 1/32d scale.
Now I have eight or nine of them, produced by Wingnut Wings in New Zealand.
And I don't hate my wise friend.

Check out this website for a real model kit treat and please don't hate me.

The first two of a long line of colorful German aircraft in 16 X 26 feet of the display room's airspace, chasing Snoopy as he will eventually fly into the setting sun (a big poster of).
Image
(I imagine the long chasing line of aircraft as being like following a trail of crumbs, examining each in turn, leading to treasure)

The Red Baron's Fokker Dr. 1, once built, will always be found on Snoopy's tail as the chain of aircraft progress along the ceiling. The Dr. 1 is a Roden kit, not up to WNW's standard but the best model of it I could find.

Am also working on the WNW Roland D. VIb

Eduard also make some stunning WW1 aircraft, but the benefit is you can get them in 1:48 which combines better with 1:43 cars.

Another wise man.

That is a stunning build and I quite agree about the combination. I love the quality of Eduard P/E sets and use them with some of the WNWings models. You might have seen this of 1/48th scale 1930's aircraft displayed with 1930's Packards, but if not . . .

Can anyone tell me why pictures, some of which have been posted for years disappeared today. 1st noticed on this post, poked around a bit and saw that it had happened else where too. I am a long time Photobucket user.

BTDT: been there, done that.

As for Photobucket: they decided to suddenly want a lot of money for hosting pictures.

Wow, great builds and they look like very good kits.

Fortunately for me, I'm a "Braille scale" model builder, with almost exclusively 1/72 and 1/144 being my sizes for planes, so these big 1/32 babies are a bit big for little old me. But they do look great.

Thanks, Makes sense, should have figured it out, and I knew I would be  if I asked, and found tis true.

Ozmac and Serafa, Thank you for the positive comments. Much appreciated.

And Jager,
Eduard also make some stunning WW1 aircraft, but the benefit is you can get them in 1:48 which combines better with 1:43 cars.
I ordered one today just to see for myself the kit's quality. Wonder what I will put it with once I finish all of these 1/32nd "butterflies" as one RAF pilot described the colorful German flying circus just 100 years ago.

They look like superb kits and certainly make fantastic finished models.
Like David i've been there before and i'm not sure the missus would be too happy with 120 plus hanging from the ceiling again!

I thought I might post some pics of the first WNWings model that I built, the Albatros D.V., Paul Baumer, Jasta 5 (Green Tails), June 1917, (43 Victories). I hope you enjoy the build sequence.

Creating the shaped plywood fuselage. The bits of sponge are how one applies a thin layer of striated brown oil paint, which is then removed with a piece of paper leaving what you see. A layer of clear dull spray paint then protects the finish.

Painted camo on top wings with a brush, 1:1 was 4" wide which works out to be about 1/8" at 1/32nd scale

Putting her together, wing rigging wires just showing bottom left, MG's mounted now

Again, Thanks for your positive comments Luciano and Tom, much appreciated.

Thanks to you too Jager,
Just noticed you are from Perth. It has been awhile now but we visited friends in Australind (spelling?), about 100 miles from Perth if I remember correctly. A wonderful memory was walking the golf course pulling an empty golf cart, the kangaroos being unafraid - out and about, as long as we were pulling those carts. :D
