Very clever and well done, Scott.
If I wasn't spending money left and right for my car right now I would be PMing you. Hell, I still might

Thank you! Nope, I was informed by a friend about the site. I recently caught the bug of collecting 1:43s after my father passed his collection to me a few months ago and now I'm here . So far I've managed to collect three models (Rookie coleccionista here I know) and I know I'll be collecting more so I thought I'd join to party. Cheers from South Carolina!

Well, I bought the Yunker Taisan Porsche GT300 from Super GT (arguably one of my favorite Porsches ever), the BMS Scuderia Italia 550M that raced at Le Mans in '05, and the Scheid Motorsports BMW M3 that raced at the N24 for several years. I also received more models, coincidentally they all arrived on the same day! It felt like christmas!

All of those could quite easily fit into my collection. We certainly share the same taste in models that's for sure.

Yeah it was surreal when I came home and saw those boxes. Four of them all with models! I'm into GT's, Prototypes, and more. Basically anything that has raced in endurance events, especially Le Mans, and the Nurburgring 24 Hours. :D

Spark models are now $40 with a few exceptions for a limited time. PM me if interested.

Feel free to look through my collection pics for anything else you may be interested in not found in this thread.

Sounds like the collection is not as interesting to you as it once was. Understandable but sorry to see good guys leave the hobby.

There are a few factors involved in my, let's just say major slow down:
I really have been disheartened by the crazy prices, especially on the Ignition models of my beloved Skylines. It just kind of broke the spell one day. Finally the cars I love were being produced en-masse. But they were so overpriced it became ridiculous for me to try and get them all. Much less spending $100 or more for a, sorry to sin, but a small toy car. I know it's a high quality model, but when it comes down to it, it's pretty much kind of a toy. I was big on collecting. Meaning that I liked to have all the versions of a certain car. I think it looks neat to have several different iterations of the same thing. That started with Star Wars figures. Loved having different outfits for Luke Skywalker and various Stormtroopers. I carried that over to model collecting big time. HPI was very guilty of enabling this habit in me. I also came to the realization of why do I need 1000 of anything, and why did I spend over $60,000(estimate) on ANYTHING? Even over a 10 year period that's a lot. I even got renter's insurance because of them. I can't imagine how much I've spent on shipping alone. Another factor was my girlfriend getting a house that she can't afford and me trying to help her out financially. I also got into comics which is much cheaper.

Granted I really really loved collecting and interacting with this forum. So great to see what everyone was getting and being excited about new cars and new possibilities. Helping people find cars they wanted. Ripping Neo a new one every week. Getting a big haul. Finding some really obscure model at a decent price. Learning about you dudes and feeling like part of a big family.

So here I am with tons of cars. They are still fun to look at, but I decided to pare it down to primarily just street cars. Mostly exotics. I do miss getting new cars in the mail and posting them here. I still check out this forum a few times a week. Who knows, maybe if there is some new innovative way to make models at half the price I may get back into it. I do miss the interaction with all you blokes. A great bunch of gents here!
