Guess I missed it

Post by jj2728 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 6:43 am

Hey all, it's been awhile since I've posted here. Health issues and such. I'm still recovering from cancer surgery. Anyhow, I've sold a few of my massive collection as I'm minimizing things, but at the same time am still searching for those cars that mean something to me. And, there's one that I did miss. The MINICHAMPS 1972 L&M Porsche 917/10 driven by George Follmer. I saw this car race in anger back in the day and it will fill a nice gap in my Can-Am collection. I understand that it was a run of only 500 pieces. Strange, because it is such an iconic car. Does anyne have any leads as to where I can find one, or does anyone know if it's going to be re-released?

Thanks, John

I don't know about any leads, but I'm glad to hear you're recovering from treatment. I hope you find the model and at a good price.

John, I hope your health issues are behind you now.

I also missed out on the Porsche as much as it belongs in my collection, I decided to sit on my hands in protest of the way it was released in such a limited number/high price. Screw Minichamps if this is the way they are going.

Nice to see you back John.

Sorry to hear you missed out on the Porsche, but you may be interested to know TSM have announced the Porsche 917/10 L & M #7 "Follmer" Winner Can-Am Los Angeles GP - TSM144347.

Thanks everyone! I saw that car race in anger with George at the wheel back in '72 and it is one that I've really wanted to add to my Can-Am collection. Though my collection is somewhat smaller now, I still pursue items that will fill the 'quality versus quantity' aspects of it. The photo is from my father's archives. Mid-Ohio 1972
