I’M SELLING MOST OF MY MODELS!

Post by DeadCanDanceR » Tue Oct 09, 2018 11:43 pm

I’ve finally decided to sell my collection. I’ve already sold about 15 models among some local friends, and some collectors are visiting me tomorrow, and apparently they’re willing to buy a lot of models...(I’ll keep my fingers crossed)!

Almost everything in my collection will be sold except for the following:

All Imperial, Bentley, Daimler, Rolls-Royce, presidential Lincolns, Hispano-Suiza, Pegaso and Lamborghini Countach models.

Some Jaguar (Minichamps Mk2, the NEOs, AutoArt D-type and a red -PW- E-type).

A couple of Cadillacs, three Chryslers, Astons (DB4-5-6 and maybe DB7 Zagato), one (PW) Maserati, a 1:24 Bugatti Royale.

My four CMC models (three 1:18s and one 1:24).

My Ford XR3i (OTTO 1:18).

A few assorted models, mostly British and a few American cars from the 50s.

I might keep my s143 forum cars.

All my collection has been photographed, and they’re all in my collection’s thread, except for 4 or 5 models which I will upload soon.

If you’re interested in anything, send me a PM. ;)

Or, if it’s OK with the administrators, I might copy my collection thread to a new thread in this same section, keeping the models not for sale out.

I think that might be the best way, Julio. It will be sme work, I would edit out the comments and the cars you don't want to sell for sure. But it will be the most effective way of presenting what you want to sell. Unless ou want to answer a lot of PM with the words "I am not selling that" :D

I started looking through your collection thread Julio, but you have soooooo much stuff. I wonder if you could split it into 1:43 and non-1:43 ?

Bad timing for me, though shipping would probably make this cost prohibitive...

Thanks for your understanding and help, Jeff! I will try to get that ready, soon! ;)

That’s not a bad idea, Ian. I’ll try to do that! :)

It will probably take a while to sell everything, unless the collectors that are visiting me tonight buy my whole collection! In any case, you could take a look at my collection and let me know what interests you.

As for the shipping costs, I’ll go to the post office later today, to check prices. I believe that the Mexican postal service is a bit slow but not too expensive. :?

Guess you gotta pay for the new car some way.
I'd have a look at your sales but I fear our model themes are so different ve nothing of interest.

Good luck with it.

An announcement to fellow collectors in the US who might be interested in some of my models. I might be able to take some models with me in late November or early December, and ship them from Texas. ;)

I’ve started a new sale thread with the final list of models for sale. I’m not done yet, but it should be ready tonight or tomorrow. ;)

Question!

I’ve had several messages asking for prices. Some people have asked for the same model(s). What would you think is more appropriate and fair: wait for someone who showed interest in a model to decide and an agreement is reached, or give preference to someone who wrote later but is offering to buy that same model right away? :?

The first firm offer takes precedence.
Any news on P & P charges?
Cheers,

This is the most fair method

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

And perhaps Julio can delete the sold items to keep us up to date.

When we know P&p costs to UK possibility of consolidating some deliveries?

I disagree with others views and don't think you should be obliged to accept first come first served.

You've been on the forum here for many years, so naturally you have bonded more with some people than others. If it were me, I'd lean towards favouring those people you've built up a stronger relationship with.

I'd also favour someone who was going to cherish the car because it fitted their collection and not just put it on eBay later.

Finally.....I'd also favour someone who wanted to buy multiple cars over someone who just wanted one or two of them.

All other factors being equal, then I'd decide on a first come first served basis.

But, I’m afraid that I don’t have many. Take a look at my collection’s thread and let me know which you’d like.

Julio, just a quick note on your sale thread. Your collection is phenomenal, if I were to collect the same subject as you do, I would get as many as I could. I always feel kind of sad when I see someone letting them go though, but at least you are not leaving the hobby, perhaps just "re-focusing", which is very normal to happen from time to time with us collectors.

Thanks for your comments, mate! ;)

For a moment I thought about selling all my models and leaving the hobby altogether, but I’ve had models all my life, so I decided that should keep at least a few! Deciding which to keep was the hard part. I’m still a bit unsure about selling by oldest models, the Corgis and Dinkys! :?

I'm keeping both my Black Beauties (from the Green Hornet), my two 007 Aston Martin DB5s, and maybe the Batmobile.

I might also keep a few more, at least the dearest ones. ;)
