Spark 2017 Larbre Art Car Corvette

Post by Jager » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:49 am

Spark have thrown up a surprise by making the 2017 Larbre Art Car Corvette available at Le Mans this week. It's unclear if this is a special limited edition like some of the premium Le Mans only BAM releases, or if it will be a general release.

It hasn't take long for these to hit eBay already in France (at Euro 179 each    ).

The car is really nice. The price is ridiculous.

Let's hope its a regular release (at regular prices). I'm thinking it might be because the limited edition models are usually numbered on the plinth which this isn't.

Not bad, nothing wrong with it that a good paint job couldn't cure.

John from SPR checked with Spark for me, but unfortunately its bad news.
"This is an exclusive model from our France distributor."
I think this is pretty disappointing decision from Spark for such a sought after car. Great if you live in Europe, but they're making it almost impossible for collectors who live on the other side of the world .

Maybe there is still hope, Ian. I've seen Spark releasing exclusive models intially ordered as exclusive models by local distributors. Some of the Raceland gold edition models appeared on CK website last week, after several months they were released at Raceland.

Maybe the culprit is not Spark but the artist/team or whoever has a say in merchandising and want the model to be exclusive.

I had a look on a few French websites (BAM and Dan Toys) and they don't list the Corvette (yet). Anyone know anyone who is at the track and who could pick up a few of these for us ?

According to Spark Instagram account, the 2019 Porsche Project 1 Art Car is also available for sale at Le Mans this year. They have only 100 units.

Euro 75 at the track this week is better than Euro 175 on eBay next week.

Higher ..... and be careful with this early versions!

Like the special livery Porsche last year, this also has mistakes on the decals on the front bumper. Sponsors are on the opposite way

Considering it's a conversion = handmade model? ;)

235 euros??? That's not anywhere I feel the need to go.
I'll stick with the Pratt and Miller Corvettes.
Very good buy on your part.

This is a classic case of what I was talking about in the LM 2019 thread. Trying to collect complete grids.

As Ian has mentioned Spark have done this before by releasing BAM specials and usually you can only find them at LM race week from their shop trackside, otherwise its ridiculous prices on ebay.

If I had not been at the 2007 LM I would of missed the opportunity to obtain a BAM LM2006 #98 Noel dell Bello Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. According to my records I bought it for £35.00 (those were the days). Goodness knows what you might find it for these days.

But case in point without that "special" of just one car the collector cannot achieve a complete grid. Those living outside the EU have even less of a chance.

Wow. I expect d them to charge a premium, but that is selling
internal organs expensive. And I don't mean Wurlitzer.... :o
I am just not that dedicated a Corvette guy.
( I wonder if they would take my McQueen 917 in trade... for three of them)
