Replicarz Chaparrals

Post by RaceOddity » Sun Jul 28, 2019 1:08 pm

I just noticed that Replicarz is expecting some 1:18 scale Chaparrals. :o
How cool is that. Being a Jim Hall fan, I have many Chappies.
It appears like Mark intends to fill the void in the Market.
Here's hoping he has 1:43 plans. I miss my Mark II.

I emailed the redoubtable Mr Fothergill regarding the 1:18 scale Chaparrals in his catalogue.
His response was that they had a great relationship with Mr. Hall and could model most cars.
I inquired about the possibility od 1:43 making an appearance. He was unconvinced that
there would be sufficient demand. wow.

I would give someone's left nut get a new workup of the Chaparral IIc
that won Sebring.

Plenty of Chappies needing to be made in 1:43 including the first front engined one.

I agree. I too would like to see the Sebring 2D. I am going to be in Vermont at the end of the month and plan to visit Mark and Replicars. I will do some lobbying!

I agree Jeff. Jim Hall's fertile imagination gave us a lot of amazing cars.

Glad I can count on you Jerry. I think that we can likely get
what we want but it will take a full court press. 8-)
Mark would likely see reason. If not, Jerry makes another trip to Vermont.......

I made a stop at Replicarz today on my trip through Vermont. Had a great visit with Brian and Mark Fothergill discussing the hobby, their business and getting a peak inside their Aladdin's cave!

I made the stump for 1/43 Chaparral models and I didnt hear no (Sebring 2D in particular.) I think they are going to use their deal with Jim Hall to make some great models. A couple of great guys dedicated to the hobby. Its always nice to do business with friends. I'll post some pictures when I get back.

Great news on the subject! :D Always been a fan of Chaparral. BTW, when you mention 'Sebring 2D', you mean the one with the lights in the nose like on the Chaparral 2, right? I usually think of that as the 'Daytona 2D' as that's where it debuted in '66 but the guys did Sebring with the same nose section before changing to a more conventional light arrangement

I would encourage you to email Mark and/or Brian with your wish list so I am not the only one they hear asking.

I built the 2D from Daytona many years ago. It has the lights in the nose. Its a Marsh Model and it came out OK. It would be nice to see a Replicarz version.

TSM did two versions of the 2D that I know of.

Both the same car, but one came in a two car set with a 2E and included a driver figure.

I emailed Mark and put in a word for the 1/43. Told him we are craviin' the copse; burnin' for the boscage. That sorta thing. 8-)

The Sebring 2D and Sebring winning 2C were the ones I lobbied for when I was there. I am no good at taking selfies, but for your amusement, here are a couple taken with Mark and Brian at Replicarz. I ended up spending four hours there rather than an hour and a much lighter wallet!

If you watch his weekly blog, you have seen Mark. Most have never seen Brian who does the development work on Replicarz line of models. That process is amazing. Both great guys!

Jerry, it seems to me that you keep good company.
I have emailed a couple of times about the Chappies.
I have soooo much seller's remorse after selling my Autoart MkII.
Even though I got $125.
That was back before TSM abruptly cancelled their production.

Mark and Brian are two blokes I’d love to sit down and have a couple of beer with for a few hours. You get the sense they are really passionate about what they do....unlike some store owners who seem completely disinterested.
