2018 Sparks

Post by Jager » Thu Feb 15, 2018 2:06 am

Since we're not getting a 2018 catalogue from Spark and have to rely on their website for new release information, here's a few tasty forthcoming 2018 releases :

The Repsol 911 GT2 is an obvious choice for my collection.

I'm thinking the same. Time to replace my old Vitesse.

Just wish we had some proper distribution in the UK rather than having to buy retail. My normal wholesaler stopped trading with Spark as they were allegedly a real pain to deal with.

I just pre-ordered this one....1964 Le Mans Sunbeam Tiger. It may not have been very successful, but it was a great looking package.

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

One of those Tiger LM Coupes used to race as a privateer at Castle Combe Circuit (in the UK) Registration 7734 KV during the mid 1960s. If only Rootes Group had copied the shape for a road car it would have been a sales winner for Sunbeam! The race car at CC was up against a Ferrari 250LM, a Ford GT40, TVR Granturas, Astons etc,. all making the right sort of noises and a wonderful spectacle of club racing.

Spark have also just released the 1963 C.D. announced in the 2017 catalogue. This is one for the true Le Mans connoisseur....it only last one lap and was the first retirement of the race.

I believe that its 700 cm3 engine wouldn't help it go much further in the race.

Oddball alert! :geek:
In my QCM (Quirky-Cool-o-Meter) that ranks a solid 7.5!

I think this one could be a sleeper. It will probably take a while to sell out (and with a bit of luck a few might end up in the bargain bin), but then they'll disappear and values will jump significantly.

So, some bad news concerning the 2017 Le Mans 24H Larbre Corvette "Art car" model.
I talked to people involved with Larbre and Spark and they told me that the artist doesn't wan't to have the car reproduced, at least not for a small amount of royalties..

It's the 2010 BMW Art car all over again :|

Typical, I was waiting on the Corvette & just the last 2 Astons. Already had news of 2 cancelled Minichamps today as it is

These artists really need to get over themselves. However, the team also need to ensure they get the artist permission for the models before they commission them, not afterwards

I asked John at SPR about this and Spark have confirmed to him the Corvette has been cancelled, without giving any explanation.

Regarding the Sunbeam Tiger 2 model

Hurrah at last the missing Tiger has appeared in model form. Why did Provence Moulage never make this one to compliment the Alpine they did?

I do have both Le Mans Tiger 2s made by BTS Mouldings in Hastings. I think only 6 of each were made???

#8 the Claude Dubois & Keith Ballisat retired at 4 hours

#9 the Jimmy Blumer & Peter Proctor retired at 8 hours

Details of the two cars car be found here

http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/5013 ... Coupe.html

Only three Tigers 2s were built car registration 7734 KV was the prototype car. Details below of the car when it came up for auction
