By the way David, which company makes the Ally bodied (X350) XJ? Looks rather nice in maroon. I've only seen it in black in the James Bond series.
Ian, the XJ in the maroon group pic is a Vanguard.

I was at the N. American launch of the XJ220 in Monterey in 1992. I will never forget seeing it for the first time under the lights, dark metallic blue, breath taking!

Both are pretty rare 1:1 cars, the major difference is under the hood. They were updated Mk2's with slimmer bumpers and vinyl rather than leather interiors. An interim car until Jaguar and Daimler saloons were consolidated into one model, the XJ6.

1959-61 Daimler SP250

Image

1960-68 Daimler Majestic Major

Image

Jaguar acquired Daimler in 1960 and along with it, the current production models. While they didn't keep the fiberglass bodied SP250 around for long, they recognized that Daimler had a loyal following and keep the top of the line Majestic Major served that important niche of customers until the introduction of the XJ6 in 1968. Jaguar started badge engineering of models with the MK2, by creating the 2.5L V8 in 1962. Again, mostly to appease Daimler loyalists, but realized the market cache of the Daimler name. Jaguar used the Daimler name for over four decades, representing the top of the Jaguar line and the best of its luxury sedans.

Very nice indeed. Watching from the sidelines I'd say it wasn't from any lack of trying but an interesting five years from Stewart Racing to end of Jaguar period. In 1:43 I have 2x R2 Becks and Eddie Irvine, and an R5 Mark Webber as the only F1 cars in my collection. I attended one practice session at Silverstone.
My souvenirs include a 1:1 signed (MW) rear aerofoil given to me in 2004. I was also a spectator at Melbourne Practice, Qualifying and GP in 2004.

Jaguar R2, 2001 Italian GP - Hotwheels (modified)

F1 made the decision to carry on racing at the Italian GP in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Teams hastily painted a part of their car black in memory of the victims.

The venture into F1 was probably I'll advised, but they had Ford's money, if lack of commitment to F1. I envy you being able to attend F1, I haven't had that opportunity. As a big Jaguar enthusiast and fan however, I did manage to acquire a number of models, team gear, flags, etc. I have a used ring gear mounted on a piece of skid plate. Between us we have a start on replicating a 1:1 car!
