Service and Support vehicles

Post by Galaxy Gaz » Sun Apr 07, 2019 12:26 pm

There must be a few of these amongst the collections here on S143 , so lets see what youve got .

Ford Motorsport 1977
Spark Ford Transit Service van
Vitesse Ford Escort RS1800

I have finally managed to pick up a matching rally car for my Ford Transit service van . I have a trailer to make up the full set, but need a larger background to photograph all 3 of them on .

The aerial doesnt need fixing and is accurate to the length of the one on the real car . Vitesse did their homework on these ;)

Thanks Jerry . I like the single axle trailer you have there, looks pretty good and period correct
Ive been after a decent single axle one for awhile and have just bought a couple in kit form from K&R Replicas here in the UK.

Spark Ford Transit Mk1 - Penthouse Racing

From way back in 1975, when Penthouse sponsored a pair of factory-backed BMW R90S motorcycles for London’s Gus Kuhn, a Formula Atlantic Lola, Formula 5000 Alfa Romeos, and the new Ford Escort Championship (formerly the Motorcraft Mexico Challenge) in its famed Penthouse Racing Transit vans.

Incredibly cool. Is there a matching 1:43 rally car?

Theres no rally car for this one Tom . I think this livery was used when they sponsored RAM Racing in the early 80`s with the Transit probably being more of a promotional vehicle although im not 100% sure .

I believe they used it to carry their mechanics to the races. Mind you, they did have the best looking mechanics in the paddock !
