"Front Engine" fever

Post by 43rdMuscle » Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:05 am

I'm sure some have already seen these but for those who have not I started a new thread. I do have others but they were not made from this casting.

These 9 Front Engine dragsters are the "Holy Grail" of my collection. They also took me several years to compile. They are made from the same casting and I believe this is ALL of them. I don't think there were any others made from this casting. (They are approx. 5 3/4"-147mm long.):

1/43 Don Garlits FE dragster, made by Corgi for Race Image, 3600 made

1/43 Don Prudomme FE dragster, made by Corgi for Race Image

1/43 Frankys Toy FE dragster, made by Corgi for Mark One, 1 of 1 (prototype)

1/43 Lionel FE dragster, made by Corgi for Lionel

1/43 Quartermaster FE dragster, #162 made by Corgi in 1971

1/43 Radioluxembourg FE dragster, #170 made by Corgi in 1972

1/43 Ramchargers FE dragster, made by Corgi for Mark One

Cool stuff Frank!! Back when city council wasn't working so hard to kill off our local track, we used to attract some pretty nice Dragsters. Great way to spend a weekend. ;)

Special group Frank, particularly with that '1 of 1' prototype in there. Presumably that means that until you give it up, nobody else would be able to have such a complete set? That's a pretty cool achievement!

Nice as always MUSCLE. i realy like the whitewall M/H slicks. I can relate to those. keep those front slingshot pictures comming FRANK. My front engine program came to a halt in the 70's. So I bought this tombstone for one of my children to play with in 1974.

nice as always muscle. I was fortunate to know DON in passing. He built the first swamp rat around 1956. I was a little tike. I stoped in OCALA, florida at his garage before it was a museum. and had a long talk with him, years ago. I was on a return trip from the gator nationals. keep those pics coming FRANK

My grandad built several dragster's for a team called Hillbillies here in the uk from 1960's to late 70's I believe. they built the first UK funny car most others imported from america.

i am looking for a battered topolino to re create there first drag car as a gift to him! But I have no modifying skill's so am buying cheap one's to practice spraying and cutting!!!

Nice collection though!

Frank is there a way I can view your musckle collection???

Did you see Jeff's thread on the "transformation of the Topolino"? IMO it went from "rags to riches"

Frank, you really at your age ought to know better.
Fancy showing an impressionable young man pics of Obama and pink bunnies.
Go into the corner and don't speak until after recess.

That's is mike at the wheel believe it or not he hasn't changed massivly, maybe the hair and some wrinkles but..........

I think the car behind's his vauxhaul, which he modified, a little bit, he said he used to take it down track and it was very fast.............

I'd love to see the car rebuilt and raced!
