Taxi!

Post by Ozmac » Wed Aug 01, 2012 5:42 pm

Having just acquired a new taxi model, I went looking in the 'Search' tool for a taxi-themed set of photos and came up with nothing, so here we go...

Image
Paris taxis, Peugeot 404 (IXO), Panhard Dyna X (Eligor) in the middle, and Peugeot 203 (Solido).

The Taxi's could be a great sub collection. I think a few people have some here.
You got some nice ones, they are very tempting. 404 and the Holden for me.

Wow, Julio, so many to like, but from your truly impressive fleet I was taken particularly by the Madrid Traction Avant, the Roman Fiat 1400 and that very nicely decorated Renault Goelette Dakar item of public transport.

I shouldn't have started this Taxi! themed photo thread. It has set me off...

Image
Not only two more: Peugeot 403 Paris cab by Solido, and a Panhard Dyna Paris cab by Altaya

Image
But now I'm on a roll with black and red Paris cabs... And a Panhard Dynamic Paris cab is already on its way, so I guess I'm looking for a Citroen DS cab in the black/red livery to complete the set, although there is a Panhard PL17 Paris Cab model out there too, so too a Traction Avant. This could become a little runaway sub-section of my collection if I'm not too careful.

nice theme!

I remember vitesse brand had a theme series and there was this turkish taxi(btw it was a dolmus - a taxi working in the same fixed directions and carrying more than 1 person) and in the real life we used the old american cars (40s 50s) till 90s. hate globalism:( everything is turning meaningless and same!
thanks for reminding this memory and I would consider to buy vitesse model with this topic:) there is one sale on ebay

Two more additions...
Image
Panhard Dynamic Paris cab (model by Eligor)

Image
And a Rio model of a DS19 Paris cab.

With these two recent arrivals, I now have a shelf full of taxis of the 50s and 60s from that fair city

Image
This gives me an idea for a Champs Elysees 'fleet of taxis' dio one of these days, but for the meantime here's the team: Pugs 203, 403, 404; Panhards Dynamic, Dyna X and Dyna Z, plus the Citroen DS.

That was a quick mini collection.
I like seeing shelfs like this with a strong theme.

It's a big "Thank You" to Paulius for this next one, a truly weird Russian Vniite taxi. Paulius mentioned in the thread on Soviet era concept cars (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9270) that the Vniite Taxi was actually available in 1/43. Not hard to track down, nor expensive, it suited my budget and (ahem) tastes.

Image
Finally, why do I think the design team behind the Vniite taxi might have also had something to do with the Russian GAZ Start Mini Van?

Even more OT, closest thing looking like that is probably the Morooka in 1/50 by Joal or the Pistenbully Canyon in 1/43 by NZG/Ros:

Take the chassis of the above and the body of the Vniite Taxi and we are close to the Chariot :D
