Gasoline Alley

Post by Alex_W » Sat Apr 13, 2019 5:38 pm

Seeing the great dioramas and photos on the board has inspired me to raise my game, so I decided to take a shot at a simple diorama in which to photograph my Watson roadsters. This is the "first draft", but it's an improvement over the top of my desk. The garage was done by using image samples of sky, shingles, siding, doors from Gasoline Alley, an inside shot of a garage area, gutters and downspouts, and sponsor logos. It was all hacked together in GIMP and the shadows were added. The base is plywood painted to look like concrete.

I'm going to build a second one to experiment with. I plan to add some people and accessories such as an LP tank, oil drum, and so on. I also plan to weather the concrete on the next one.

Any input from the experts is welcome.

I like it a lot! A bit clean, but otherwise an excellent backdrop.

Works well
Andy

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Excellent. I particularly like the middle picture.

Thanks.

I'm planning to do more weathering on the next one. Particularly on the concrete. The only thing I did on this one was weather the shingles a bit. Any aging and dirt added to the clapboard will need to be done through image manipulation since the surface is a flat photograph. At some point I may build a three dimensional version with model railroad materials and weather that one.
