I've done the demolition and cut down the Solido chassis:

Image

I've made a couple of flatbeds out of 1x2 pine. I used a dado blade on my table saw and cut them to length. I plan to use auto body filler to smooth them out and then sand them to the final shape. At this point I am thinking that I'll cut the wheel arches using a sanding disc on my rotary tool. If that doesn't work out I'll set up the router table with a round nose bit and "zing, boom". If the pine doesnt work out I've got some maple that I can use as well. One good thing is that now that I have the measurements I can crank out over two dozen of these in about 20 minutes from a single piece of 1x2, so I've got some wiggle room.

If you can bang out 20 of these, you might find there is a market for some of those both here on S143 and eBay.

The wheel arches are carved out. I used a rotary tool and a hobby knife.

I know that wood is an unusual choice, but I am what I am, and when faced with a dilemma I ask myself:

What would Norm do?

Fan-tas-tic project :!: Of course I would never had the idea of making the platform of wood  , but I know you are familiar with that kind of scratchbuilding, so I'm thrilled to follow this topic! Although I'm quite sure, but did you build the car yourself, too? Otherwise it might be tricky to match the metallic burgundy paint, doesn't it?

Interestingly, I got an email from ABC Brianza with this 1930 Ford AA kit https://abcbrianza.it/negozio/BR ... 623582 too bad its a tandem axle, it would be perfect for anyone that didn't want to scratch build. Yours is going to look fabulous!

I've thought of that as well. Decals are available for the car so I may find another car to build or modify just for display with the truck.

Great project, looking excellent so far. Solido are excellent base for projects, built well, modular and cheap.

I'm assuming you watched the Dinner With Racers episode on Amazon Prime about the Boyle Special. If not, worth the time.
