I have thought of doing the Grand Hotel hairpin, but there are other Monaco dios I have ahead of it on my idea list. Here are some visual images of Monaco scenes I would like to do.

The best way to create the answer to your question Ian is to start one yourself. :D

Anyone want to have a go at this scene from Indiannapolis:

I can't help feeling that the Lotus would be quicker with the Zephyr

Its an intriguing idea. I assume that is in the Alps, Stelvio Pass? Lots of possibilities as many roads led over that pass on the way to racing in Europe.

We see lots of pictures from the Targa Florio, but what about the Circuito de Piacenza. This is from 1947:

Seeing this Targa Florio picture made me think it was a good time to give this thread a reboot. This scene would form a great diorama for Martin (Alfaholic) and his Targa Florio Alfa's:

Work is such an inconvenience! Once full time retirement arrives (not too far away) I would certainly refer back to these amazing pictures you have posted Ian. I will need to learn how to scratch build the buildings first though.

I wonder if Spark could be encouraged to produce this as a set.

Apparently it was taken at the 1984 CanAm race at Mosport, to promote an upcoming WEC event. Supposedly the Porsche is only a show car, but it still looks good to me.

At most that poor Chevy wagon had an anemic 305 under the hood, it must have been pulling hard

My parents had the Buick version of that wagon, bought on a February afternoon in 1978 as it was the supposedly the latest and greatest. Theirs wouldn't pull hard OR soft as it rarely started after about 6 months. The beginning of a long, slow decent for GM
