At least for me, it was a pre-sale - the book will only be released in September 1st. And since Amazon BR offered free shipping, I'll only be getting it by October probably.

Looked on Amazon UK for this book and the one revue was 2 stars! I paste it here:-

"I'm so sorry. I was really looking forward to this book and so wanted to like it because - as the synopsis says - "Most photography books are written by professional photographers, who love complexity, arcane language, and lots of expensive equipment. But this one is different - believing the best results come form simplicity". Well, as someone who's taken thousands of pictures of my own and other people's models and miniatures I entirely accept the sentiment and the book is certainly different but the printed result completely destroys the concept - the pictures throughout the book are so naive and amateur (I suppose the book's cover should have given me a clue) and there is really nothing in the text that is new or helpful to the amateur model photographer. (Paul obviously has a surfeit of tea leaves in his house.) The book is sweet (damning with faint praise, I guess) and I applaud the author for putting his ideas and practices on paper (as I've so often wanted to do on so many subjects) but I so wish he had had more to 'show and tell'. I do hope he sells lots of copies."
Cheers,
David

If it's not available in physical form until 1 September how has this reviewer formed their opinion? And what about that last sentence...?

Perhaps it's the copies for overseas which are 1 Sept release.

(I suppose the book's cover should have given me a clue)
Disregarding the unusual selection of a ragged model for a cover shot, the single-source lighting and the out-of-focus foreground do not suggest any refinements to mere snapshot photography. :| He does, however, match the direction of the soft lighting on the model with the lighting in the background – a common oversight.
