Look Smart Miscues

Post by Alfaholic » Sun Nov 15, 2015 3:22 am

Hope this is the right section for this.

There have been a few Look Smarts popping up on the Forum recently, mainly due to the new Ferrari licence I guess. I have been eagerly awaiting my first two, ordered from CK Models in Germany. They turned up recently and Kimi Raikkonen's SF15-T has a fairly noticeable issue - the "Scuderia Ferrari" decal is missing from one side of the engine cover. I know Kimi hasn't had the greatest year, but this is a bit harsh! The model is OK apart from this.

I have contacted CK and am waiting on their reply.

The No. 27 Scuderia Filipinetti 250 LM from the 1965 Le Mans race also arrived, and it is perfect.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with Look Smart, or has received the Vettel or Raikkonen SF15-Ts, with full decals. I have a couple more Look Smarts on order and will be looking to get more due to their Ferrari connection.

That's a pretty major QC stuffup from Looksmart. At least they didn't forget the Alfa logos !

Unfortunately CK Models can't offer a replacement as they have sold out of this model. They have offered a partial refund however.

Would anyone have any ideas about where I could get some decals for the car?

Thanks

Kimi seems to have binned his Ferrari more times than he's finished this year. Maybe you should just hit the model with a hammerand turn it into a diorama piece

I hope the rumours that we'll see Dan in a Ferrari in 2017 are true. Kimi is well past his best.

It hurts me to agree, as he is the last driver to win the Championship in a Ferrari, but I do find myself yelling at the TV during most races, wondering just what is he doing.

I hadn't heard too much about Dan going there in 2017, but I would be happy with that - an Australian Italian in red would suit me very much, although I wouldn't say no to young Max popping up there either.

i did a quick search and found a Tameo 1/43 sheet from Kimi's last chassis (right?) that has those Scuderia decals and i believe they are identical to what you need even though they are from 2014.

Thanks very much. I have ordered a set of the 2014 decals as they look OK. Have also ordered some older Marlboro decals for some 2000s Ferrari.

Thanks again.

I was looking into getting a LookSmart Lamborghini SE30, as I found the wheels to be better proportioned to the body than they are on the Make Up model.

Unfortunately, in every picture I see of it, the car has a glaring error where the fog light lenses are single units, while the 1:1 has dual lamps on each side.

The hue seems to be a fair bit off, too. Should be a bright magenta, rather than purple.

Yep that is a mistake by looksmart, other than this the models are nice. Have both SE30 and SE30 Jota

I seem to remember that in 2003 'Eagles Race' did a quite acceptable SE30 and got the colour right to the 1:1. For those of us not into high price resin it was very acceptable for the 7GBP I paid for it at the time. Not sure about the number of spot/fog lights though. SE30 Diablo was also one of the Lambo partworks cars. Again I can't vouch for the spot/fog details.

The Le Mans 1963 winner, Ferrari 250 P #21 drove by Bandini-Scarfiotti, does not have rear plate number PROVA MO-51... I'm not sure if this car had a rear license plate, but the other cars #20 and #22 do carry it, and I think all the other reproductions of this winner car have the plate (just take a look for Tecnomodel 1/18 model)

and now... Looksmart 1/43:

also from Looksmart, the cars #22 and #23, both have the plate:

I'm still searching one picture of the winning car during the race where I can see the rear. But it's very strange, I'll be an incomprehensible mistake.

Note also other differences between models, like exhausts.

That must be a rare photograph. You need seem to find photos of the rear of cars so this is excellent info certainly from a model builders prospective.

I found this image of the 22 car without the number plate and the 23 car which is hard to tell, but looks like it does not have one either. I am not home presently, but when I get back tomorrow will have to have a look in my Ferrari books.

I can see the plates in both cars, #21 and #22

In the winner car, I only manage to see "Prova", it seems that it is due to dirt.

Car #22 has the plate in the upper zone covered by shadow, but it can be clearly seen.

Last picture, car #23, I'm unable to see the plate, but maybe it's due to light reflection.
