Atlas Editions Touring Car Collection

Post by The Maltings »

http://www.atlaseditions.co.uk/collecti ... model.html

Saw a flyer in Model Collector mag for the Escort at £1.99 so thought it was worth a punt! Model is fine looks like an Ixo rather than a Trofeu moulding. My model has a slight scuff on the roof and the windscreen wiper is bit thick but for a couple of quid who's complaining?!

Rest of the collection looks quite interesting especially the Hoy M3.

That looks a lot better than I was expecting before I clicked on your link, especially for GBP 1.99.

I can see a few of these heading down to Australian collectors because of the Frank Gardner link.

Do you have a full list of the cars to be produced ?

Ok the list is currently showing as below with further models to be announced:

BMW M3 Will Hoy 1991
Chevrolet Cruze Jason Plato 2010
Vauxhall Cavalier John Cleland 1995
Rover SD1 Vitesse Andy Rouse 1984
Ford Broadspeed Anglia John Fitzpatrick 1966
Sunbeam Imp Sport Bill McGovern 1972.

Ironically I'm 3/4 of the way thru selling off my Touring Car collection but have a soft spot for the M3 so will probably buy that before reviewing my subscription.

A few speculators already advertising the M3 at inflated prices on a well known internet auction site but at least gives you an idea of product quality which isn't bad at the subsidised price

Quality doesn't look that far off early MC touring car models. Not bad at all.

If this is anything to go by, I'm concerned about the Cavalier.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fine-Set-Of-C ... Swr0ZXNiCz

True, but vanguards modelled the correct body shape. Lets just hope its a prototype

There has been no definitive list issued with the models I've received so far and the order in which they seem to be despatched is a bit random as are the "free gifts" that come with the collection. I've seen a Mazda RX-7 and Mini Cooper on Ebay from Chinese sellers which have yet to officially surface in the UK.

Models I've received so far are:

Alan Mann Ford Escort MK1
Will Hoy BMW M3
Jason Potato Chevy Cruze
Bill McGovern Imp
Colin Turkington BMW 320i

Seen the Cleland Cavalier/Vectra Fitzpatrick Anglia and Rouse Rover on Ebay so guess they will be on their way soon.

I have now got the Escort, 2 BMW, 2 Chevolet (Waiting on a 3rd) and the Imp. I had a problem with the box on the BMW and also problems with the Chevolet decals flaking off.
I really hope the 3rd one is Ok or I'm gonna end up with 3 and none without problems

I got me the Mazda Rx7 from a Chinese eBay seller sans any magazine, clearly a backdoor factory release :D
Seller had a couple more from that series listed here

I suspect its a Norev casting (which I have never seen in the flesh)
Its pretty ok with me , mirrors are a little odd :D

Do you think so?...that`s interesting.

I wouldn't say they were particularly good and certainly not worth Spark levels of pricing . Ive seen lots of Escorts for sale on ebay with defects ranging from paint chips to wonky wheels . At £15 each they would be a decent enough collection but for me , like so many pw models , the quality isn't there.

Does anyone know how much the new releases in the collection are from Atlas ?

Quality control rejects is what you typically see on ebay just after a series gets released. Generally, the models sold through the official channels are much better.

Direct from Atlas roughly £19.00 inc postage if you pay the invoice early...

Will be interesting to see how soon this Mondeo ends up on Ebay UK at £50!
