Thanks Chris.....you'll find we're all pretty good at helping other people spend their money !

Here's another two pictures of the Nurburgring car to help with your conversion. Looking forward to seeing this when you've finished.

CD, only me. Just catching up with your posts.

All, I'm fortunate enough to have witnessed Chris's work and his excellent displays first hand and yes it's as good if not better than the pics.

Thanks for the inspiration CD, and thanks to members of this forum for your passion and sharing your experiences.

As the weather here in the UK is still rubbish time to put up some more photos from the McRae Collection and still no Impreza or Focus models!!!

1992 pre RAC Rally test - The Mk1 Ford Cortina is one of my favorites. This is based on a Minichamps model. The story behind this one is that in 1992 Autosport got two of Britain’s greatest rally drivers together for a car test swapping into each other’s cars for a pre RAC Rally preview issue. Roger had his Sutton prepared Mk1 Cortina up against the Prodrive Legacy. Judging by their smiles in the test report I think they enjoyed the test and each other’s company?

2000 McRae Stages - The white Escort is a Trofeu model with decals added. This car ran as course opening car with Murray Grierson on the notes

2006 BRC Test Day – This is based on an IXO model with decals removed and corrected and as per the real car changed from LHD to RHD. Judging by the photo I think Colin enjoyed this one too?

Two race cars

1992 BTCC Knockhill – This is based on a BMW 318iS from Minichamps stripped and resprayed with decals from DMC in Holland. There are a few photos of this car around and the wheels are different in everyone. So which wheels to choose, remember a photo is just 1/125th of a second of any race/rally, replicate one photo!! As a Prodrive employee Colin was asked to drive one of their cars at the BTCC Knockhill Race meeting. He finished 8th in the first race and was disqualified in the second for a bit too much aggressive driving, knocking Matt Neal out of the race (wonder what happened to him!!??)

2006 Porsche Supercup – [/b]This is based on a stripped and resprayed Minichamps. The decals came from DMC in Holland. The two races were at Knockhill in Scotland where Colin retired from both races.

I was wondering if you had the Vertu Porsche. It’s a pity Colin was taken so soon and we didn’t get to see how his 2nd career in Sportscars fully developed.

At last I have found some time to finish the 1993 Safari Rally Subaru Vivio of Colin McRae & Derek Ringer. Why anyone thought that taking such a small car onto the Safari Rally was a good idea, I have no idea. Any car with small wheels has very little suspension travel, so unsurprisingly the front n/s wheel came off when the suspension failed when they tripped over yet another pothole

Strangely this model has never appeared in 1:43 (1:64th in the Colin McRae Collection yes). Trofeu make a nice yellow Safari Rally version (generally available at around £20) which comes apart easy enough to respray in the correct Subaru Blue. The decals are recent additions to Carlo Rovatti’s superb range of over 300 decals in Italy. Nice decals you have to cut out but are nice clear quality decals.

That is indeed a very unlikely rally car. Nice conversion.

Excellent conversion. When Ixo first produced the cast and demo’d the grey mould at a show, I can’t have been alone in thinking “that must be the Mcrae car”. Amazed they never did this version. Great work Chris.

Looks good Chris. I'm surprised you didn't do a second one for a before and after set minus the front wheels :D .
