Re: The German Bentley

Post by cls.shootingbrake »

I'm proud to present you the latest model that I've managed to finish for my birthday after a month of assembling. :)

I have a thing for the modern red of Mercedes - designo hyacinth red metallic, which I used for my first custom 1:18 CLS63s last year. Now that my main collecting focus is 1:43 I just had to have a mini red SB in the line-up!

Here you could see some steps of the process.

Enjoy the first ever in the world hyacinth red AMG CLS SB!

2016 Mercedes-AMG CLS63s Shooting Brake X218
996 designo hyacinth red metallic + night package | Spark/Minimax (DE) | B6 696 EXB1 | 1/1

The model is a real copy of 1:1 car from Ravensburg, spotted by CarspotMunich. I wanted to build GERRU51 at first but this one has my favorite wheels and emblems delete so it had been chosen.

Modifications include:

• 996 designo hyazinth rot metallic paint
• night package:
- window trim in gloss black
- side skirt in gloss black
- front lip in gloss black
- side mirror covers in gloss black
• scratch-built front lips in gloss black
• scratch-build chrome trim between tail lights
• rear diffuser in matt black
• detailed exhaust tips
• detailed headlights with new glasses
• tinted tail lights on the edges
• chrome door handles
• carbon-ceramic brakes
• white seat belts
• license plates

It's one of those cars with stand out styling that looks as though it's doing 100 mph while standing still! Nice.

Today is the perfect time to show you another unique red MB. One year ago, I've met my first ever hyacinth red CLS SB. This, apparently, is my favorite color and the idea to forge this memory into another unique model flashed through my mind.
Photos of 1:1 are made in Berlin.

Impressive repaint! It's quite hard to do a good job repainting modern diecasts because disassembly is so hard.

Great job! Although both look nice, I'd pick the first version!

Your words warmed my heart, thank you all!

I think my topic will suit the Collection's cabinet better, I let the admins to decide if they wish to move it there.

Enjoy my pictures of a more "ordinary" model, still one of my favorites! This is again a custom repainted one in the right color, the third car in my family, when I was only 4 y.o.

It was obligatory to make a group picture of all three classic Opels in my family!

Congratulations. One of the first cars I bought new was a 1997 Holden (Opel) Vectra 2.5L V6 Hatch. It was lots of fun, until it got to 80,000km and then too many things started to go wrong. I have a Schuco model which is already it right colour, but it needs the Opel badges replaced with Holden badges.

Some say the golden ages of the hobby are behind... I can't aggree. These next two models are on the price of a pizza in a restaurant. :o And they are so good! Do you like the Sport Turismo or fastback more?
