Good grief! I finally finished a collection after a long battle with a Silverline kit of the Jones Las Vegas 1981 winning Williams. My sausage fingers and the microscopic parts in this kit were not a good combination. So unless Ford return to F1 in the future and at the risk of going over old ground this collection ends here.....

A wonderful collection Paul - and a lot of dedication in putting it together.

I know I should say the Alan Jones car stands out, but I kinda like the Matras and 49s - the BT49 is a bit of a favourite as well.

What a great collection Paul. It's fantastic to see such a tightly focused group of cars.

The Matra's are a favorite, but I've also been a Schumacher fan for a long time and love the subtle variety between his cars as well.

You know why Italians speak with their hands? Because they have to work a lot on their engines.

It's really annoying on two fronts.

1) i read something and realised i had an incorrect model in the collection and a missing one. That's been sorted.
2) i couldn't remember my rationale for why i had decided i didn't need certain models in the collection. I've tried to come up with a good explanation and failed so i need to add another 13, 2 of which will need to be scratch builds, 3 of which will need to be conversions...... that's going to take another 6 months at least....

Good grief....

Only 1970 left to finish - i have 2 SMTS kits to build which are more complex and with less instructions than i find helpful, especially as i need to modify both.....

My mistake was that I assumed top X finishes scored points. In fact, the best place car in a team was the only points scorer for a number of years and the manufacturers champions was actually a combination of teams using the same engine/chassis, so a mix of sponsors could win the manufacturers championship in the same year.

Here we go again:

Very impressive indeed and very focused 8-)

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Thanks Andy. It's been a fun journey. There is one other F1 theme which i'm sorely tempted to do but i just don't have the space or budget for it - something would have to go to accomodate, and that's the journey of the Alfa Romeo/Benetton team from 1979 to 2001. I'd only want one of each type of car they made and not being fussed about which driver probably makes the acquisition costs cheaper in some instances - I think there would be about 30 different cars in total during that period as in some years there were evolutions developed mid season. The livery of these cars have always stood out for me.

That’s a fantastic Collection Paul - this hobby is a great way to reflect on the sport we (generally) love.

I am intrigued by the Alfa Romeo / Benetton theme. Do have an association with the Italian clothing company, as the only connection between Alfa and Toleman/Benetton was sponsorship.

No association Martin - just always liked the livery and the teams did effectively evolve from Alfa, to Alfa Sponsored by Benetton and then to Benetton in their own right. The two teams never overlapped.

Superb collection, but, regarding the Alfa Romeo / Toleman / Benetton scenario, Martin is correct, the only connection was the Benetton sponsorship.

They certainly overlapped. Both Alfa Romeo & Toleman ran with Benetton sponsorship in 1985. At the end of the season, Alfa withdrew as a constructor (the cars had been run by Euroracing since 1982) although engines continued to be supplied to Osella.

Benetton formally purchased Toleman at the end of the '85 season & in 1986, Benetton cars ran with #19 & #20 which Toleman had used previously.

If you wanted, the "Enstone Team" would serve very well as a collection, 1981 Toleman - 1986 Benetton - 2002 Renault - 2011 Lotus - 2016 Renault

I was going to say the Martini sponsorship wouldn’t hurt either, but of course the fan car had Pamalat sponsorship. You could always justify it on the basis that it ‘blew’ the Ford powered cars away....literally !
