TSM Andretti autographed JPS Lotus

Post by David C. » Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:00 pm

I've had this for about a week now; the JPS markings must be applied on your own, not too difficult but time consuming and 'fussy' - as I age this becomes more difficult to keep a steady hand! I am pleased with the quality of the models though I would have preferred not having the driver figures in each car:

That is a very nice set David

Nice that it does come with the decals even if you have to apply them yourself

British roads have history. Some were built by the Romans. British road investment being what it is, they have only been re-surfaced a few times since.

Impressive set and a great display.
All of my Spark tobacco cars have had the decals taped to the bottom as well. Glad to have them that way then not at all.

Gorgeous set David. Very desirable indeed. As the others said, tobacco decals is better than no livery at all.

You want true stupidity on this subject - go to Australia. I can not buy any model with fag markings including $215 1:18 Peter Brock Marlboro sponsored Holdens which when they turned up for the recent 50th Anniversary celebrations at Bathurst were not filmed by theTV because of said signage. However Aus Post issued a lovely set of Commemorative stamps. Front and centre of the 60c stamp is a Brock Torana WITHoffending logo. Work that one out

Cheers

The model definitely look great with the full livery on them. I have the Spark Lotus 102, Martin Donnelly with the Camel decals applied. What a difference before and after.

Yep, we've discussed the driver issues around here as well. It's even stranger when you realize it's the same guy setting beside himself...3 times no less!

You did a great job with the decals and I really enjoy seeing the cars in full livery. Nice work, and even with the drivers, I'm jealousy!

Very very nice set. But I sort of understand how you feel about three Mario Andrettis...
One was sufficient.

As an anti-smoker I fully agree that tobacco sponsorship at sporting events and on TV should be banned - and I would even agree to the idea of logo-free packaging on cigarette packets.
However
tobacco sponsorship on models of historic cars is not advertising - it is historical accuracy, and the decals should be supplied or already applied.
To illustrate a similar story - as a child I used to make model planes, tanks etc. In Germany the Airfix and Revell catalogues, and all the models of German WWII planes etc, had the swastikas blacked out (I assume decals were also minus the swastikas) as the swastika symbol was not allowed. Again, how do you achieve historical accuracy?
