Re: 1/43 Trucks
Hi Paul , youre right about the International, its excellent. You will have to keep a look out as Ixo have several more American rigs due for release soon and Im sure they will keep you happy.105epaul wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:21 amI have just bought that 1959 International, it is lovely and the price was right from MCW in Germany. May have to purchase more of the American trucks as I have a few more from other manufacturers. There is just something about an American truck although of course I am a fan of American vehicles which probably explains the one lurking in my garage.

Thanks alot , they are very addictive especially at their pricepoint . Maybe you need just a few favouritesJohnny_Bravo wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 9:21 amthey are all lovely, i can hardly restrain myself from going on that path...

Just released by Ixo is this gorgeous looking Peterbilt Pacemaker .
Since the inception of the Peterbilt brand, the company has manufactured around 40 unique models of Peterbilt trucks. Initially, the truck model numbers began by using a “2” for single drive rear axle models, and a “3” for dual drive rear axle models until 1981. Peterbilt eliminated this format of naming Peterbilt trucks around the late 1970s. The 352 wass one of Peterbilts most famous and popular trucks with over 29,000 of them being produced.
Several Peterbilt trucks have been featured in well known past films, which helped to boost their popularity. For example, the classic 1950s Peterbilt 281 with the narrow-nose butterfly hood was featured in Steven Spielberg’s thriller Duel in 1971 and in the 1982 TV series Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff, the Peterbilt 352 Pacemaker , was featured as the armored truck Goliath. A unique version of the 2007 Peterbilt 379 portrayed Optimus Prime in the first three Transformers movies.

Re: 1/43 Trucks
The International is very similar to the Transtar semi-tractor we owned which was a 1970. They didn't change much over the years, just basic cab redesign for better visibility and incorporated the fenders into the cab, making it more square. Drove a lot of miles pulling double trailers for my dad in that old corn binder.
International's were dependable rigs and that looks like a very nice model! Wish they made a single cab, ours was a short haul tractor with no sleeper; otherwise I'd grab one too!

IXO is doing some really nice American big rigs and I'm glad that a Ford has been included. Regarding the facelift date for the LTS 9000, it was MY 1982, not 1978 -- Wikipedia got that wrong.

Very cool trucks, the Peterbilt is quite tempting because of that Knight Rider connection but hoping that they'll release the GMC General truck which was the main Semi truck in that series, the one that hauled KITT inside it.

Ah a concept truck, that's from my field!
Got this Radiance ages ago (although mine was a factory sneak out as the original dealer edition in display case was too expensive) and it is still a nice addition to my small concept trucks family.

Eligor MAN Concept S
The MAN Concept S truck study shows what can be achieved by combining an aerodynamic design with additional innovations. This meant that this truck had the same air resistance as a family sized car which resulted in up to 25% less fuel consumption and a sustainable reduction in CO2 emissions. The concept is a blend of the streamlined MAN Concept S tractor unit and the matching Krone AeroLiner trailer, forming a single aerodynamic unit with the same amount of loading space as today’s semi-trailer tractors.
Articulated trucks are famously inefficient and can be dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. The European Commission recently announced plans to change the rules governing the size of trucks to make them safer, more efficient, and more spacious. MAN‘s new Concept S meets these qualifications with a slim front, flared wheel arches and curved cab lines, which break the traditional “shoebox” truck design.

Its a shame that Eligor didnt make the matching trailer as the complete truck looks fantastic

Looks like its come straight from a 'Transformers' movie. As you say, a real pity they didn't do the matching trailer.

Ixo DAF 2800
In 1973, DAF introduced a wider (by 20 cm) version of tilt cab F241, which gave the company a new flagship 2800, which received a wide grille made of black plastic and four round headlights. The cabin was originally available only with a low roof and sleeping compartment with two full beds. Trucks were equipped with a 11.6-liter turbocharged engine with a power of 280 hp. Thus, the model 2800 replaced the outdated 2600. In 1975, a version Supercontinental with luxury interior was presented. In 1978, DAF 2800's range was completed with a range of 8x4 trucks.

From 1982, DAF produced the 3300 model with a DKX1160 diesel turbocharged engine with an output of 330 hp. Those trucks were used exclusively for long distance tranportation and special loads hauling. In 1981, all the cabins of heavy trucks received some enhanced in sound insulation, which gave a decrease of internal noise by 4-5 dB. In 1985, DAF presented a Space Cab with a high roof and the same year, DAF introduced the second generation of diesel engines with turbo and air cooling, known as ATi (Advanced Turbo Intercooling), which allowed an increase in power while reducing fuel consumption and amount of unhealthy exhaust gases. Since the mid 80s a new flagship 3600 was produced with the DKZ 1160ATi diesel engine with a power of 373 hp.

I recall those being introduced, they were incredibly popular and even after the new models were introduced these were around for years. Very nice model.

Re: 1/43 Trucks

Ixo 1950 Kenworth 521 "Bull Nose"
The first new postwar truck in the US , with a cab over the engine layout was the Kenworth 500 range . This version used the doors, roof elements and chassis from conventional models from the 500 series. The l shape of the front end pf the truck earned it the nickname “Bull-Nose”. Interestingly, the cab was available as both day and sleeper versions but the actual cab of the truck didn’t tilt, and was rigidly fixed to the frame , so to service the engine , access had to be either through the cab or from below the truck . The range included the models , 521 (4×2), 523 (6×4) and 524 (6×2).

The Ford L series is a range of heavy-duty trucks that were assembled and marketed by Ford between 1970 and 1998. In 1976, the LTL-9000 was introduced. Designed as a truck for long-haul drivers, the LTL-9000 was a competitor to the GMC General, Kenworth W900, Mack Super-Liner, and Peterbilt 359. Fitted with a set-forward front axle and a longer hood, this version had more room for larger powertrains. In 1978, Ford gave the LTL-9000 its own grille and headlight styling, including one of the first uses of the Ford Blue Oval in North America.
The L-900/L-9000 chassis were available in all axle configurations, but were typically sold as semitractors and the LTL-9000 was only sold with a diesel engine. The 9000 series had a Cummins NH230 standard, producing up to 350 hp.

Re: 1/43 Trucks
Amen brother. In the 1980's I got to drive a Kenworth K100 with a cabover Aerodyne sleeper cab. It had a 600hp Caterpiller with 14 forward speeds (plus Georgia overdrive). It was only for a few miles, but I'm a cooler person just for having done it. My friend Morris drove the truck as an independent. When things got dangerous for them during the "convoy" era, I rode shotgun (literally, I had a double-barrel 12 gauge Winchester in my lap). The CB chatter was amazing. I remember Morris telling a Peterbilt driver who was dead-heading that "them Pertercars are only fast when they're empty".105epaul wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:21 amI have just bought that 1959 International, it is lovely and the price was right from MCW in Germany. Ixo Renault R310 Turboliner
The Renault R-series was a range of heavy-duty trucks built by Renault Vehicles Industrielles (RVI) from 1980 until 1996. Originally built by Berliet, the truck became the top-of-the-line offering in Renault’s new heavy commercial vehicle line. Sold as the R-series, it offered a range of engines in models from the original R310 up to the V8-engined R420 although most models were inline-sixes. The R-series overlapped the more compact, more utilitarian G-series, and was meant for longer distance journeys where driver comfort is of more importance.

The 338 PS (249 kW) R340 appeared at the 1986 Paris Salon, being a modified version of the twelve-litre inline-six also used in the R310. A high-roofed model with a bonded and riveted fibreglass extension called the Turboliner was also sold, beginning in 1986. In 1990 the R-series received a facelift, with a body-colored grille and a more aerodynamic appearance. In 1992 the truck was renamed Renault Major and in 1996, the R-series was replaced by the new Renault Premium. The R was mostly equipped with Renault’s 12-litre G-series inline-six turbodiesel, although some higher powered models (R360, 370, 390, 420) received a 14.88 litre V8 unit. The smaller 9.8 litre G-series engine was also available in the R330 and the R340 ti. The most powerful six was the 385 PS (283 kW) R385 ti of the 1990s
