Post by Jager » Fri Apr 27, 2018 9:15 pm

For those of you who have been to BAM (Boutique Auto Moto) in Paris, you might be interested to know they have just completed a renovation of the shop.

French collectors don't seem to be very impressed, comparing the stark white fit out to a pharmacy !

Wow, it looks very clean! Personally, I like it.... but, if I were the shop owner, I would probably prefer to display all models available instead of storing them.

I really don't think it needed a renovation though. He used to have plenty of displays all over the place, everything was on sight.

My thoughts exactly. Style is comparable to Premium car brand dealerships :)

Do you have to handle the models with gloves?
In fact, do they even let you see the model you want to buy before you pay for it?

You know why Italians speak with their hands? Because they have to work a lot on their engines.

I was there a couple of years ago. It looks bigger in the pictures now. Have they enlarged the shop with the renovation?

I don't think so RT. It maybe just looks bigger because the took away the display cases in the middle of the shop that divided the space. Here's the old shop for comparison looking from front to back :

PS I see they still haven't sold the 1:8 Porsche 935 (a bargain at Euro 3,200) that they've had on display for several years. I'm surprised Gary hasn't snapped that up.

I had my mate at Porsche offer me a fantastic discount on a 1/8 scale #23 Porsche 917K when I ordered my latest models from him .

MY 15% discount meant a £1500 drop in the price leaving just £8500 to pay . I was so tempted.....for about a nanosecond

Most of my 1:1s were cheaper than that.

We have been to this shop a few times when visiting Paris Retromobile.

BAM also had a much bigger shop in the north of Paris but that has long since closed.

This shop always had a lot of models on show and even if it was a bit jammed it was the thrill of looking ...there had to be something

This is their current website https://boutiqueautomoto.com/index.php

I would have to say it would be a bit of a shame if they are only stocking Spark Models. In the area they are in the rates/rent will be high, so will their prices be high?

In the good old days there were more models shops inside The Periphique than there were in the UK. Sadly most have gone now, just a few hanging on.
